Question Airaid to a PSP Filter Kit

Has any Airaid user switch to a PSP Filter setup?

If so, was there any advantage or disadvantage to the change?

Did anyone switch from a PSP filter setup to the Airaid?

I think that most Airaid users now are using the Big Mouth Powerstack Filters. How is this better than the PSP Filter setup?

To me an Airaid with the big mouth is fantastic. Haven't a clue as to how Sal's would have performed. I could never get in touch with him. No matter how many e-mails, faxes or phone calls I made. I gave up and now very happy with what I have.

I think any large cone filter that allows better air flow works. Sal's setups selling point was its dead on precise fit, quality of craftmanship, and ease of installation. It didn't flow better, just looked and fit better.

I wish I could give you an answer, but like FORDSALES I could never get in touch with Sal. I know his product is a quality filter thru word of mouth. I do know that the Airaid that I have is a nice piece of workmanship. Fit is great, looks good and I like the fact that it shrouds-out the engine heat and only draws fresh air thru the fender opening.

Ditto. Could never reach Sal, and have been thrilled with the Airaid.

What is the "big mouth powerstack filter" you guys are talking about with the Airaid. I have never heard of that. I have an Airaid and if this different filter works better I would like to get one.

I had the Airaid installed and tried the K&N and the S&B Big Mouth filters. I never could tell the difference between the two of them. In fact I just recently went back to the stock air box and to be honest I have not noticed any major difference in performance. The only thing I have noticed is the blower noise is less noticable.

Never tried a PSP product for the reasons most have already stated.

Please keep in mind that I run my L mostly on the street and the above statements are JMHO.

The Big Mouth is a filter put out by S&B, which incidentally also supplies the Power Stack filter that Sal uses. The major difference between the S&B and the K&N is the opening on the end of the filter. I just ordered one from Sal for $45 including shipping. That's for a 9" Power Stack with 3.5" inlet.

How is the fit of the Big Mouth filter with the Airaid? Is there anything special you have to do other than remove the K&N and clamp on the S&B? Anybody have a picture with this combo?

DB - Here is a pic of the Airaid with the S&B filter. Mine fit great. Just slide it in there and tighten it down.

At the moment, I have an Airaid with the standard K&N filter that it comes with. I'm happy with it, but I do not appreciate the looks of the thing. So the Airaid is staying in the truck until I can order and actually get the PSP filter. At that point I will probably try to sell the Airaid. I just don't have a clue as to when that may be.
