Red face Intercooler Pump

OK here we go lightning only has 8500 miles on it intercooler pump shouldn't be out with no more miles on it than 8500 pump should be on with a 5 mile drive. I have not checked fuse yet not sure which one is the intercooler pump fuse i cannot see any fluid moving in the tank and do they make a more powerful pump.??????

Sometimes the connection on the pump itself is poor.Pull it out and blow it out and make sure it clicks in. I've fixed a couple of l's that way. Also , if you can hear or feel it running then you may have air cavitating in it. Then you need to "burp" it. Disconnect the outlet hose while its running for a few seconds. 8500 miles is way to soon for a pump to wear out under normal conditions.

It is normal for the tank to have bubbles and turbulence due to the high flow rate of the pump.

i cannot remember the exact conditions at which it should be running, but it is not supposed to run all the time. i dont' think it will run until you get up to a certain temp. just FYI. i thought mine was broke b/c there were some rumors spread that it runs all the time, which is not the case. and yes you're going to have a ton of swirling bubbles going on. not sure you need to burp it or if that is really even possible.

The pump comes on in about 45 seconds after startup. I jacked with mine a coule of times when it started to fail. Junk accumulates inside the unit although at 8500 miles that should not be the case. A temporary fix is to hit the pump with a hammer (gentle but firm hit) and that will knock the crud off the inner walls.

It's a magnetic drive and when the junk get too thick it doesn't have enough power to keep spinnning. I cleaned mine twice and gave up and bought a new one.

One thing that I do when I change engines or when I take my intake off is remove the inner cooler and take it to my local radiator shop. They boil it and pressures check it for leaks. The cost is around 50 bucks helps me with fluid flow, leaks and efficiency.

God Bless,

Suavy
