Question Lightning Costs

Guys,

Just curious how much people are paying. I live in the Dallas area and the dealer I'm going to buy from is selling their SVT vehicles for list price (They have 1 black & 1 silver currently avail.. I want red

Is that about average? I've seen some people saying they bought theirs over the Net for about $28k. I've also seen another local dealer adding $3k to the list.

Any opinions?

Thanks!
James

I and many others paid sticker, plus destination and tax. That would get you out of the show room at 33K!I know some guys will tell you they paid 26K and 28K,but for us with no special contacts, expect 33K out of the lot.If you can beat this thats good, but dont pay any more. Two dealers I never went back to,one was 3K over sticker and another was 5K over! Some of them think we (the customers)are stupid!I hope this helps....

Hey SVT_Wannabe,

I bought mine at prestege ford in garland for list, the sales men are pretty bad and their service dept. sucks. I now use meddlekauf for service, btw I meet another L owner and he bought his L at meddlekauff and they drilled his front bumper for the license plate. I also think silver2000 knows a good place in allen?!?

There are a lot of earlier posts on this so you can do a search, but to summarize - they seem to be priced lower in certain areas. You can buy in another state, and have it drop shipped to a dealer near you. Mike Bass Ford was selling them for about $28,500, plus $200 to drop ship. You can call my salesman and see if they have any left. His name is Elmer Scott - 1-888-227-7033 Ext #2250. If not, call 1-800-FORDSVT, and they can give you a list of Ford SVT dealers in the Cleveland area. Ls seem a lot cheaper in Ohio compared to Texas and California.

In New Jersey all SVT dealers are selling at msrp or more. DOWNS ford on the website wants over 33k for the 2000. I went over to pennsylvania and had my choice of SVT dealers to buy from. All of them were asking $1000 over invoice. That is what I paid for my hot red 2000 lightning. $28421. great deal and HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY. one dealer Northeast Ford in Carbondale had a red 2000 with 840 miles put on by the owner of the dealer and he was looking for invoice $27421. beautiful truck!

Cool

When I bought my L about a month ago I called seven different dealers in Texas, and if they had a L they wanted $1K to $3.5k over sticker. I ended up getting mine at Freeway Ford in Columbus Ga. They just happened to have a red one coming in that wasn't spoken for. I paid sticker, and feel like I got a fair deal. If you want a giggle, check out the value of a 99 L on Kelly Blue book (www.kbb.com)-- 36K??!!

Ashenor, that sounds like the ford employee a-list price, which us normal people can't get.

I paid $1k over sticker in NJ after talking the dealer down from $2k over.

In January there were a couple dealers in Dallas willing to sell for Sticker.... I imagine that now they would be more willing to deal to move product. I bought Mine at Lee Jarmon for sticker but the dealership sucks. Bankston Ford at 121 and the Tollway seem fair, but I havent been buy lately to see if they have any in stock. Since there are NO options on an L I would be tempted to buy from one of these remote dealers and pay $200 to ship it if I couldnt get the same deal locally....

SVT_Wannabe,
I live in Houston and have to sell my '00 Red Lightning. I bought it back in April. I'm moving into a new place and just can't afford to keep her. Please send me an e-mail. If anyone else is intersted, please feel free to contact me.

Sorry you gotta sell your truck.

When I was trying to "deal" with my dealer, I remember he told me "Hey, we only get 8 of these, 7 are already gone, if you want to deal we can hook you up with a nice Taurus for less".

Ack.

Sheehy Ford in Gaithersburg Maryland appears to sell everything below MSRP, except Cobra R. Got black Lightning for $30875 ($500 off MSRP). Been on back lot for quite a few weeks. Got a silver one too. Tel# 301-258-1015. You can ask for Peter Fulton. He was my salesman. I beleive HowardJE got his red 2000 about a month ago for $29.5 at Sheehy.

HowardJE paid $29.5K and not $29.5.
Needed to correct mistake in case someone thought they were seeing things.
