Question of the Day..what's your dream car?
Well, if we're going to be allowed to introduce P-38s, I guess this makes my vehicle of choice fair game. http://www.fountainpowerboats.com/racing.html
I would say. Being the Blue Oval blooded American male that I am.

I know you don't own the car, that is why I questioned whether it truly was a Venom 500. If it were, I don't think it would run that slow of a time (for a Viper). Since you posted the time, I assumed you were driving. I don't know the rules at HRP, but why would they restrict the car from running? It didn't even break into the 11's. The RT/10 has a roll bar, and is safer in a roll than most fixed roof cars. My initial confusion was the time. Bone stock GTS' run anywhere from 11.9 to 12.2, with a claimed 50 more horsepower, the only reason for the slow time would be traction. But if it were due to traction, the car Also, GTS is not a series, it is a division within the 24hr races such as the Rolex 24hr and the LeMans 24hr. It is the class just beneath the unlimited class (where the Audi S8's dominate).
kobiashi,
The "special" Viper I was referring to is not so far from stock as your Nascar example. The Viper GTS-R could be easily mistaken for a Viper with a wing and a vented hood. By your logic, I'd probably own a Mustang because there are 4 second (in the quarter mile) Mustangs out there?
Brakes...the Vipers brakes are some of the best found on any stock car. Since you weren't driving it very hard, you should've have noticed the excellent braking. Vipers have excellent BRAKES (fixed, 4-piston calipers that don't flex or warp rotors). But the braking SYSTEM lacks ABS, and hurts the cars 60-0 ratings. For quick or trailbraking, the Viper is one of the best. The handling, the Viper is more difficult to drive fast than most, but the car's handling is excellent. It may not feel it's handling as well as some of the other cars you've driven, but it is. Your opinion may have been affected by something you've read. Magazine will always rate a car that FEELS that it is handling well over a car that actually IS handling better. I am not doubting you've driven a Viper, but things always taste worse when you find out what they are
. The Viper is not for everybody, and takes more time to learn how to drive fast than other cars but it is definately not only made for straight line performance. The Viper was made for road courses, as is the ACR (American Club Racer). The Viper was never considered a drag car, but when you have 450hp, it is inevitable. An ADR (American Drag Racer) Viper should be in the works...
Not trying to start arguments as the main reason I read this board is to keep current on the Lightning. No doubt the best performing truck available. But since I rarely ever post to this board, I will not be replying to this thread any longer. I only checked today because in reading my post, it did not come out the way I planned, but was more of a know-it-all flame. I apologize for any trouble this caused.
P.S. I did not edit it because, it is what I did at that time and would rather apologize than act like nothing happen, as I would in the real world.

WHAT THE PRESS SAY ABOUT THE ULTIMA SPORTS
"I read an article in one of the top magazines recently which praised the £175000 Lamborghini Diablo as outstanding value for money against similar performance from the £600000 Mclaren F1 and the £415000 Jaguar XJ 220. If that's so, the Ultima Sports must be the performance bargain of a lifetime."
Ian Hyne Kit Cars International
"The Ultima is virtually as quick as the Mclaren F1."
Ultima Sports owner ex F1 driver Jonathan Palmer
"Compromise is not in the Ultima dictionary."
Ian Hyne Kit Cars International April 1998
"It rides extremely well and handles extremely well. It handles like it's on rails."
**** Johnson Australian multiple touring car race champion
"You've seen Star Wars where Harrison Ford puts his spaceship into hyperspeed and the stars suddenly become shafts of light as he zips into hyperspace? Well this is very similar with the needle rocketing round to 7000rpm, the engine note instantly becoming a bellow from its boots and the shove in your back akin to being hit by an artic!"
Ian Hyne Kit Cars International May 1993
"The Ultima is lighter than a Lotus, faster than a Ferrari and more powerful than a Porsche."
Paul Ellis Herald Sun Australia March 1998
"If you're after performance in the McLaren F1 territory for a fraction of the price, then the mid-engined race developed Ultima is a strong contender."
Richard Fleury Auto Express May 1997
"Quite simply I was staggered by the Ultima as will be all who occupy the left hand seat when it's used in earnest."
Ian Hyne Kit Cars International May 1993
"The Ultima is quite simply potentially awesome. Power, acceleration, aerodynamics, braking, handling and road holding are all in a class way above most people's experience and comprehension."
Ian Hyne Kit Cars International May 1993
"In almost any gear and at any speed, the huge torque produces neck snapping response while the gargantuan wheels and tyres ensure it all stays largely where it should."
Ian Stent Which Kit June 1997
"The Ultima seems to have it all, and for substantially less money than any equivalent production supercar."
Ian Stent Which Kit January 1995
"Over the years I've got pretty accustomed to being driven fast by experienced drivers but there are times when even I find myself closing my eyes as we approach yet another corner at seemingly insane speeds. The laws of physics must surely prove the Ultima wrong, you can't pull these sort of stunts off-but of course we do, time and time again."

Better yet? How do you figure? Old Cobras are a total piece of S**T! Small tires, no acceleration! Small tires no handling. Big engine, see no tires.
Look at the above hyper link BTW it's the year 2000.

Hey MRBBQMAN, this is a hard one to answer, but in a nutshell you have to but every individual piece of the ‘kit’ car.
I’m thinking about finding a wrecked 99 corvette for seats, wheels, and breaks (50/50). Frame is about $3000, body $5000, fuel cell $1000 and Porsche Transmission $2000-3000.
Engine Lightning 500 hp $6000.
All in all I think a do it yourselfer like me can get by for $30k to $35k for a top notch ‘you’ve never seen one of these have you’ vehicle. For 335 hp it will do 185, what about 500-800 hp, you won’t even want to race motorcycle under 750cc

. My dream car would have to be a Nissan Skyline r34 v-spec, with the left hand drive conversion.
