Question of the Day..what's your dream car?
Doesn't look like anyone has mentioned it, but my dream car would be a 1967 Cobra SC427. Pure horsepower at its finest.

HONDA! HONDA! WTF!? My heart hurts. I thought that word was outlawed on this board unless it is preceeded by "Damn! I smoked a...".

If I were to pick a "DREAM" car mine wouldn't be a new one. I'd want to drive KITT from Knight Rider, that damn car can do anything!

A few cars come to mind
1. Mercedes Benz CLK60 (145k)
2. McLaren F1 LM (1.25 mil)
3. Ford SVT Mustang Cobra R (55k)
Not in and order. The Corba is about the only thing that I can get close to. But if my numbers come up, who knows.

I don't think you were driving a HMS Venom 500 if it ran a 12.8 at 110 mph. Albeit it had a decent launch, a 12.8 suggests to me, around 350rwhp, with decent street tires and a good launch. What gets me is the trap speed...110mph? 110mph is indicative of a car with around 320rwhp, even Generating I Viper RT/10's had more than 320rwhp STOCK, and last I checked, HMS isn't in the business of making your car slower.
kobiashi,
"Please… great for going in a straight
line as long as you have no intention on stopping as the brakes are worthless (among other things)"
Put down the magazine articles and get in a Viper before you start criticizing. Obviously you've read magazine articles where other cars have been ranked higher than a Viper in handling. Magazines will always rank a car that FEELS like it's turning well, than a car that actually is. Vipers are only for straight line performance? Vipers are MADE for open tracks and road courses. Vipers consistently pull more than 1.00g's on the skidpad, not what you'd expect out of a drag car. Vipers have dominated the GTS class of every 24hr race since '95. A Viper will always be a race car first, a street car second. If you like cars that feel like they're handling well, buy an M3, if you want a bare bones street legal race car, buy a Viper.

I've owned a 1959 Vet which if I could of, I would have married. I loved it.
My second was a 1993 Cobra R car. Fun to drive.
And now the L.
I have had the cars that I wish I could have.

Exodus,
Perhaps you should go back re-read my post...I posted the dyno numbers 424rwhp and 464rwtq. Also, it was not my car, but a friend of mine. The owner raced it not me and made 3 passes a 13.8, 13.2 and 12.8. He called it good enough at 12.8. The car had severe traction problems and the track would not allow him to make another full on run (no top). Also, I agree with the brake issue...they are junk for this car. As far as them dominating GTS...*dunno* I don't follow that series. I can tell you those cars are dangerous. I don't need you or any magazine writer to tell me how the car behaves. I drove it for 3 days and will never consider driving one again...IMHO they are dangerous and there are much better cars to be had.

Exodus,
FYI I have driven the Viper. Numerous times on many varied types of roads in varied conditions. I would never give an opinion based on second hand information. I will admit however I have NEVER driven the specially built, has nothing to do with a real Viper, GTS 24hr race version you make mention of.
Talk about basing your opinion on information from a magazine.
If we were to base how we rate cars by their performance in races, then I guess the Ford Taurus is one damn fast automobile based on what Ive seen in NASCAR races.
In case you're interested I've driven the Viper (an RT/10...one of the ones with no roof, not the coupe) on both freeways (fast in a straight line), and through numerous of our canyons here (Malibu, Decker, Beverly Glen, Coldwater Canyon) and I can asure you that it's handeling leaves something to be desired; add the absolutely worthless brakes while driving in the canyons,as well as driving fast in a straight line, and the car can be downright frightening,. If I'm driving fast I like to know I'm going to be able to stop if needed.
I will grant you this, I actually liked the interior. I will also admit it handles better that a Lambo Diablo VT (other car I disliked) and is more comfortable than the Diablo. But other than that there is no reason to reccomend it.
OK, it does LOOK cool.
