Are Lightning's really-really fast?
Title Are Lightnings Really Really Fast- IMO no 13`s 1/4 mile is not fast a top fuel dragsters 1/4 is fast. But hey this is my onpinion of a 1/4. Now lets compare apples to apples here, We have a single cab- short wheel base truck that weights 4500-4750 lbs, So If we take any other truck that fits its size and weight then the Lightning is fast- you say well thats because it has a supercharger well SO put a supercharger on a chevy 327 it still dosnt beat the L in performance in the straight Line or in the twisty`s. I just depends whats fast to you- yea the truck is fast for its size and coming from the factory.
I still think if we drop a 529cui SC aluminum block in this bitch wouldn't it be pretty interesting, don't YOU think? Right now it's pretty boring, lets gets happy or does this take 3-4 years to accomplish
Sure, you could do all that, all it takes is money. What's the point? I bought my truck to tow my boat, not to race. The good performance at a low price was just a bonus. I didn't plan to modify it, except to improve the breathing a little with headers and a filter. So, I got headers, and am waiting for the ProM. I said I'd never swap gears- well, it has 4.10s in it now. I said I'd never chip it- that's next. I said NOX was out of the question- well, maybe not. And a roll bar- ridiculous- Not. But there are obvious limits as to how far you can go with this truck and still keep it a reliable daily driver. If I wanted a really fast street car I'd get a used Supra twin turbo and boost the hell out of that puppy- there are streetable Supras making close to 1000 h.p. Anybody got a copy of Auto Trader?
