Nitto NT555 tires... are they better than the F1's?

It's time for tires (again) and it seems that the F1's are on backorder. I was wondering if anyone had the Nitto 555's and not the drag radial versions. Looking to see what areas they are better/worse than the F1's.

Thanks

I've been doing research too, finding mixed opinions. Some like the f1's more, others the nittos.

I've heared nothing but good things about the 555R's. I think I'll go with them in the rear and the regular 555's up front

I've had both. Currently have had the Nitto 555's on since March and I prefer them. Both are good, though. I also have a set of 555R's on another pair of rims and the patterns on the drag radials are more similar to the 555's than F1's, and I've always liked matched tires. In my opinion, wet traction is about the same, but I think the dry traction edge easily goes to the nittos. I keep my rear tires at 35-36 psi and the fronts at 40-42. Wear seems to be decent.
Good luck

imo, the 555s are a bit better in traction, but I like the ride and looks of the F1s. I have DRs on the rear, and 555s up front right now though. Also, the 295/45/18 N555s have all most a .5" wider footprint then the 295/45/18 F1s at the same psi.

Yeah the looks of the F1's are hard to beat. Halftime, what do you mean you like the ride of the F1's compared to the Nittos? Is the ride harsher or just not as nice overall? I have the Roush suspension on it and the ride is rough as it is. I am looking to get some new shoes on the truck before my trip to OKC in September.

Thanks for the input guys

im not sure what your using tires for racing or what not but i just purchased a pair of Nitto 420s truck/suv tires. excellent ride quality and traction (not sure if they make them in 18")

305/40R22 - i went with a bigger rim for looks and actually gained ride quality compared to stock Gooderyear F1 295/45R18 which suprised me. I personally like Nitto performance tires better than goodyear

I put the Nitto's on my truck and LOVE them! They don't look as nice as the F1's, and you MAY lose a little in cornering. They definitly wear faster, but the difference that was the most noticable to me was...the F1's hook great when they are new, after a few miles they get hard. My 555DR's are bald as....well bald. And they still hook incredible even with 500+hp.

They are both very close on traction. I've had both and would say from personal experience that the Nitto 555's have a little better wet traction while the F1's have a little better dry traction when comparing new tires. I had my best 60' times on a new set of F1's compared to the Nittos, but now I keep an extra set of 555r's for the track so I don't care about that little bit of difference for the street. Also, With the Nittos 555 I've had much better tread life than the F1's, around 20K for the F1's vs. 25-30K on the Nittos. So when you factor this in and that the Nittos seem to be more available and slightly less expensive on average than the Goodyears I think the Nittos are the better choice.

The F1s seam a bit "softer" with bumps and cracks and what not. And a bit less road noise, but I'm really just splitting hairs here. For the most part, you can't even hear anything but the exhaust anyways. lol

I just put on nitto zr's all around yesterday to replace a very worn set of f1's. Im loving the nittos, very smooth good traction i am extremely happy....oh yeah they were cheaper too!

edit-Oh yeah i forgot to mention that i have a completely stock suspension if that helps.
