For those who think the magnets are a bad thing, you better take the one out of your tranny pan

Yes Ford has used them for years now. If you take it out, be ready for sticky valves and soleniods

Well, another add on. Trying to keep up with you fellows is like keeping up with the Jones's. Sounds like a good investment so I am in. Thanks for the info.

Count me OUT!

I see two thing happening -

Big clumps of iron particles gathering near the oil filter and/or magnetically charged iron particles circulating throughout the engine, eventually gathering+combining at a critical location.

Lets say it does work ...

Your oil filter would now trap more and more particles. Charged particles binding together in larger and larger clumps, clogging the filter - resulting the bypass valve kicking in - leaving the circulated oil unfiltered.

That sixty bucks for the magnet could buy 12 filter upgrades (Mobil 1 filter is about $5 higher than the Motorcraft/Purolator filter) which will provide superior engine protection.

If you have that big a clump in your engine, you have much greater problem than a magnet will cause. These things have been used for years. I have one on my 89 Chev s10 Blazer with over 200,000 miles on it. The magnet has been on for about 75,000 miles of that. There has never been a problem with the engine in that truck. No leaks, no burning, etc. Can't say it's because of the magnet, but a little extra insurance doesn't hurt either.

You are right though, you can buy a good amount of filters for the price of the mag.
Hey, I may buy both!

Change the oil and filter with quality products religiously,
end of story,

or waste your $$$ on oil additives, magnets, etc.(the magnets for your feet don't help either)

Received my order for the mag. from Filtermag today.

They put everything in the box that I received EXCEPT the magnets. I called them and they said "opps"

Filtermag will get them out to me but one would think that would be the last item that Filtermag would forget to mail.

Jim,

Maybe the guy/gal in shipping got one too close to their head and had a mental lapse, so to speak.

I'm expecting mine new one today.
