Question

Steve,

When you say you will not be repeating general stuff, does that mean we will NOT be getting a Lightning Specific Vendors forum?! To be honest...the general vendors forum is useless to me right now, whereas a Lightning specific Vendors forum I would visit every day.

AtomHeart,

The same vendor rules would apply to the proposed Lightning Forums as they do right now. There would be nothing from preventing you from discussing Lightning products/vendors in a forum specific to the Lightning aftermarket, but I will not be setting up an area where business can advertise for free. Again, the same rules would apply.

I have to take the leap and say "Eh?"...

I actually like the board the way it is at the moment. While having a section dedicated to the Lightning sound good, I like having everything in one place. That just means one forum to check on daily (or hourly sometimes), rather than having to check multiple sections.

Just my opinion. And whatever Steve decides, I'll live with. After all, I need my daily dose of Lightning owner companionship!

Also, please consider an "Anything Goes" area of the message board. This is where you can post about non-related Lightning stuff.
Just to keep this idea re-focused and to (again) get the idea across of what this would be...there is already a General Discussion message board. It would not be repeated on the Lightning-specific boards...

Isn't it funny that F150 sales are in the millions, and have been around for almost 50 years. But after a year and ahalf and less than 9,000 in prodution we have came far enough to get an offer for our own message board. Not to leave out the early model Lightnings I guess you can say its been less than 5 years and less than 15,000 in production. Still all in all thats not bad, it shows that a Lightning is as powerful where it gets it's name from.

Steve...

I have never really checked into the General Discussion forum here. I thought that area was still all related to F-150 stuff and that you couldn't post anything else to that extent.

so then to clarify, my "Anything Goes" section (which is what it was called at LS1.com) is the same as the General discussion forum?

so I made a mistake....sorry 'bout that.

Cool

Don't have a chance to get on the web as much as I would like anymore, but here's my opinion...
F150 Online is the first thing I look at when I get this thing cranked up. I do agree that the Lightning heading has gotten real cumbersome, but I don't think it needs its own board if it could be expanded w/sub-topics on this board. I think we get a lot of add'l communication from non-Lightning owners that we may miss out on if it was set up as a stand alone board.
As far as newbees, give the guys (and gals) a break and let them ask "dumb" questions without making them feel unwelcome. We were all "newbees" once. They'll get with the program quickly.
I am completely satisfied with this board and if you decide to add a Lightning board I will gladly switch. I wish you could add sub-headings to this one.
Just let me know how to access the new board if it materializes. Keep up the good work.

I say give them their own place to call home. The majority of Lightning owners are great people and contribute in ways that help and encourage everyone. These people I would really miss reading post and learning from. But the owners who think God has a workshop and created Lightnings from some secret formulation only He knows of I will happily say "See Ya!". There are only a few of these types who just can't comprehend that they are just a regular F150 with a supercharger. Everything about them is still a Ford right down to poor quality and craftsmanship. And as I have said before, and most still don't see, the Lightning forum has posts about every aspect of their trucks. If you add up the engines section of us "regular" F150's along with the performance, appearance, etc, etc, the Lightnings section is only a speck of sand in a large dirt mound. And you guys need to remember, without a Ford F150 you would have NO Lightning.

Well, I've thought about it and since there's not gonna be any spell chucker, I don't want it. I like everything being on one forum. It's much easier to read and faster to go back and forth when it is like it is.
However, I am a believer in having your cake and eating it too. So, lets have both and see which one gets the nod. As for me, I'll stay here. My .02 worth.

which ever board we use, i'd like to suggest something beyond, new member/member. since it's steve's board and he has already grabbed "MASTER" for himself, maybe some ranking for ourselves:
1000 posts- "Lord Of Posts"
500 posts "Duke/Dutchess Of Posts"
100 posts " Sir Knight Of Posts"
50 posts " Knave"
i kinda like the sound of "Lord Mrbbqman, what brand of gasoline should i be using?"
and i'd say "Well knave, when your a knight, i'll tell ya "
Maybe i'm dreamin, but wouldn't it be sweet!!!!

I think we should be Colonels. They have Kentucky Colonels. I was a Colonel in the Confederate Air Force for a long time. I liked being called Colonel. The Eagle insignia is great too. Leather flight jackets, pilot wings, What do you fly? Why, I fly the Lightning of course. Hey, boy, paint another firebird on the side of my plane, err truck............

Steve,

I first would like to thank you for all the work that you have already done. This is just a wonderful site. Second, I think that the idea of having a separate site such that the Lightning posts are categorized is a great idea, but I was wondering how searches would work? There have been a number of times in which searches that I have performed have pulled information from other areas. Would having the Lightning specific board necessitate performing two searches?

Either way this is a great source of info/inspiration. Thanks again.

Steve,

I don't want to jump in front of a moving freight train here, but I like the message board we have now. It's great to scroll through the various topics and see the big picture as to what's going on in one location. If we chop it up, then some of us might miss a great post on a topic we hadn't thought about and were not looking for. If I get hung up on something, then I do a search and that brings up the related posts and I can research from there.

I log on usually twice a day just to see what's going on. It's all right there with the most recent stuff available. I vote to keep it like this.
