I have heard that number before, but hey thats 40.32 hp and 49.28 ft lb of torque, which would make most everyone's numbers here sound right. From the same place I also heard that the Lighting powertrain was the most efficient SVT had ever come across. Did you say that Ford_Tech? I also have a video tape that I recieved for free that says the Lightning only looses 4% power through its true dual exaust system, while keeping its "agressive" note. About as agressive as an escort maybe. So that should take the % loss to about 16.2, but I would be ranting to go into it. Man, could this 99 be a collector's item, like the first mustangs?

I'm not the one who said that, but I've heard it too, and the 11% figure was published somewhere, the only reason I know it to be true is I thought it was a misprint, and checked it m'self, it's true, and as someone who at least thinks he KNOWS about transmissions, it amazes me too....
for what it's worth, I have heard that when John Colleti first saw the number he blew a gasket and said it was "horses**t", thought someone was on crack or something like...
and yes, it does make all the numbers peolpe have posted here nice and tidy, doesn't it?

Question

Is that the: average % Loss, certain RPM % Loss, or Maximum % Loss.

As in all Auto transmission, efficency is very related to how fast you turn it. ie if it at 2000 rpm and has a loss of 10%, at 4000 rpm it could have a loss of 15%-20%. So I wonder how this is rated?

I can believe that the Transmission/rear end may be that efficent, but what about the Torque Converter, I'd venture to guess that this is without Torque Converter or it is locked up.

I have called SVT myself. They told me it is around 11% loss. They also said it was the most efficiant vechicle ever tested. As far as the picture of the 2000 cobra,I do not know.It does seem really funny that it is Already April with basically none to speak of

Very bad new came out this morning, there will be no 2000 cobras made this year!
That's funny. Saw a pic of a 2000 cobra from a car show.

from mustangworld.com: 2000 SVT Cobra on display ("Cobra bumper").
