Post only 300 SVT Cobras?

I was talking to the general manager of my SVT dealer yesterday (about SVT on Track), and he heard that the 2000 SVT Cobra (not the Cobra R) will be limited to only 1 color - mystic gold, and there will only be 300 made? Is this true? Makes me wanna go and reserve one for myself!

Mike

I hadn't heard that they were going to be limited to Mystic Gold so that may be but I did read that they are making 800 in the Mystic Gold...

The Cobra R will be limited to 300 total. Each dealership will recieve one Harley Davidson F150 and I think CA is right about the 800 mystic gold cobra's.

I had heard or read that production of the SVT Combra ( Non R )was delayed by something and they were NOT going to make up lost production. Same article said all the R's would get out of the factory. But I had not heard any more details

Yea it's been delayed alright. Grossly lower horsepower than advertised, vibrations in the driveline and a class action law suit. I've run two and beat both, they're dogs!If you want something that size, buy a WS6 Firebird!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

righto about the WS6 and the R's being delayed, wrong about color. All 300 will be red and no options available and all 300 are allocated and sold.

There will be 300 Cobra R models made for the year 2000.

Very bad new came out this morning, there will be no 2000 cobras made this year! Ford has had too many problems a still can't get a 320HP from the 4.6L DOHC engine on a regular basis.

Just phone your local svt dealer and ask, they got the letter this morning from Ford.

Look for a model year 2001 Cobra this fall.

As far as the 300 Cobra R's, they are built and being retrofitted with the custom body parts.
From what I've heard on the Cobra, from 2 different sources is that when Ford does get the 320 HP out of the engine, the heads are cracking.

Complaining they can get use complaining. Ford addvertises the trucks with 360 hp and 440 lbs of torqe. My question where is it at? Not at the wheels or the crank. Maybe we should all call up and raise some hell on the same day.

Burningout,
I'm confused about your post about where the power is, the rated 360 HP and 440 Ft-lbls of torque.

If you look at anyones Dynos from here or the latest Hot rod Magazine, and I quote here "How does 320.8 hp at 4,900 rpm and 410 lb-ft of torque at 3,100 rpm sound?" Thats RWHP, now assume a 20% drive train loss, and we're talking 401 Horse power and 512 Ft-lbls. I would say these numbers are high, or maybe only a 15% drive train loss.. but either way.. this engine ROCKS. End of story.

Injection is nice, but I'd rather be blown. 99 Lightning, the best of both worlds!

As of 11 am SVT said that they are still trying to get the 2000 Cobra going, No cancellation yet. If they do cancel he had no idea if they would make the Mystic for 2001. All Cobra R units are built.

A few notes, of things I know to be true...

The 2000 Cobra is dead, except fot the R's. Ya heard it here last....

Drive train loss on a 2000 Lightning is 11.2% and it really pissed me off that they "guessed" it at 20%, the actual figure is not widely public, but published in places that they should know about, they're s'pposed to be experts.

And where do they get off talking aobut "options could round this figure up to $35K range" or something similar??...HELLO, there ain't no options 'cept the cover that they ain't selling now anyhoo...!!!

When you put a pickup up agianst a Corvette, the Vette shouldn't have to cheat...

11.2% for an auto...Somehow I question that. As that is the mosst efficent auto I have ever heard of.
