Locking lug nuts, redux
Yes, I have searched. I have also read all the posts I could find on this topic. Gorilla claims that their 71663F system fits the L., but I believe that this has 12mm x 1.75 threads, and a guy at America's tire measured a nut off my L. (not the one behind the wheel) at 14mm x 2. It has been posted that McGuard is supposed to start making a set for the L. commencing this spring, available through your friendly, knowledgeable Ford dealer, but I think it only comes in sets of 4, not 20, and I prefer the Gorilla system with the external grooves, anyway. So, puleeeze, has anyone successfully obtained a locking lug nut system for their 2000 L., and if so, can you tell me who the manufacturer, part number, and vendor is?
Hey alphadoggy,
Ford part number is YL3Z1A043BA currently "backordered" until "May"..whatever that means. McGard will not sell them direct no matter how much I wined.
I ordered the Gorilla 71663F, have seen others on the board sucessfully use them but will try them for myself and let you know.

Are the studs different than the ones for the other 2000 F-150's? If they are the same, I have had the factory locking lugs for months. For part numbers on these and other factory locks, please check out the following link and scroll down to my post on 10/20/99. Hope this helps. https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/000084.html

The lug nut set (20) that was made by Gorilla was done back in July of 99 for me. I worked with them on the nut size and length through Discount Tires here in Houston. The parts number you have (71663F) in correct for the 1999 Lightning, which should be the same for the 2000. As far as the actual size, i can not remember. I have the container and card that came with the kit at home and will be glad to post it tonight.
I can see it now, put the box, scoket, and card next to the wheel with the lug nuts mounted, take several pictures, down load into computer, email to everyone so they can see that "they fit", ssscccchhhhhh!

Franko, I will be really interested to see whether the 71663F set fits your L.
selva1, I believe the regular F150s have 12mm studs and the Lighting has 14mm studs. At least Discount tire sent me the wrong set, for a regular F150, and they were 12mm.
98_SVT_COBRA, my 2000 L. still has the 14mm studs.

Franko, no way 12mm will work on an L. Guess I will have to go down and order the McGuards from my dealer, even though I much prefer the Gorilla design. I guess a few hundred units is not enough to get Gorilla to tool up for production.

OK:
For those of you that would like to know the Gorilla Wheel Lock System Consist of 20 - 12MM x 1.75 Acorn nuts, washers, and One (1) Key Socket. Part # 71663F. Do I need to take pictures of them on the truck? If the 2000 Lightning's have 14mm then they will not work. DUH! According to the Ford Parts book the 2000 "L"'s have the same lug nut as the 1999, right down to the part # to replace the stock nuts, on the truck that is.

Hey Alphadoggy,
I called Gorilla in LA this after'. They do not have a app/specific for the 'L but gave me 2 part numbers 91167-1 for a set of 4 12mm x 1.75 Acorn style and 71663F for the same size but 20 piece. Confidence is LOW that these will work since the gal @ Gorilla said the app heading was for a "1999 Ford F150".
I'm going back to the dealer and order the Ford part and wait patiently by my wheels with my Heckler and Koch.

To 1BADTK,
I went to 2 tire discounts today and at the first dealer they said that the lug nuts where in stock at a different dealer.
Off I go to find out that acording to the 2nd dealer Gorilla Wheel Lock System doen't make a part # 71663F at least on their computer system or in the Gorilla catalog.
I'm not saying that your wrong but do you think you might of got a one off set, or maybe from a different supplier?
I'm going crazy looking for any locking lug nuts, help!

These are a current Gorilla item, could probably get from any online auto dealer, Summit, Jegs, Wrenchead, etc. They are a stocking Gorilla part, some suppliers don't know about them because they don't see many Lightnings. Most don't even know that they exist. Keep trying you will find someone with them.

Hey guys,
If Gorilla will fit which seems the 99's have 12mm lugs you can buy the 4-piece set (#91167-1) or the 20 piece set (#71663F) direct from Gorilla automotive; (800) 262-6267x103, ask for Kay, and have credit card ready. For the '00 L it seems the lugs are 14mm so the above will not work. see all posts below.

Spoke to Kay at Gorilla this a.m. and she acknowledged that Gorilla does not make a set for the 2000 L. She thinks that they were under the impression that the studs on the 2000s were identical with the '99s, which we know is not the case. She does not know whether they plan to tool up for the 00s or not. Guess I will have to order the McGuards from Ford.
Later: went by Ford dealer this p.m. and ordered the McGuard set available only through Ford. Part # for the 2000s is YL3Z-1A043-BA.
Price was $56.50 + tax for set of 4. Not bad, eh, $15 per lug? Don't have any other options at this point, though. Parts guy said it would take 3 - 5 days to get them. We'll see.
