New chevy Thunder????
No, sort of. There is a recent article out from (I am not sure what magazine I read it from) but the chevy thunder is produced by Courtesy Chevrolet in Phoenix Azisona as a dealership only model (not by Chevy). Kinda like a Yenko Camaro back in the late 60's. It is not quite as quick as a stock Lightning, but then again it only costs about $8,000 more. I have the article at work if you need more. I believe it came out of a recent Trucks Motor Trend magazine.
Hey fellas, the magazine is June 2000 Truck Trend.Chevy has a few articles on trucks in issue that are being built by the dealerships.Wait till you catch the prices! The truck on the cover is 65,000 with mods! They have a thunder silverado and a thunder extreme. The exterme is 29,995 and its best time was 15.04 at the strip.I just think chevy dont know what to do about the Lightning!
For the performance, for the price, make mine Lightning thank you!

Lightningquick,
I live in Phoenix and went to Courtesy Chevrolet several months ago before ordering my L. In a nutshell Courtesy takes a C1500 shortbed regular cab and puts a Whipple supercharger on (non intercooled system), Edelbrock TES headers, Borla cat back exhaust, Hellwig suspension, 18" tires and wheels. They claim 400 horse. Run times in Phoenix, I believe are about 14.3. Courtesy did not to beef up the drivetrain on this vehicle. And the worst part is they want $39,000 for these things. Well being the diehard Chevy man all my life after seeing on of these, I went and bought a Lightning.

I, too, owned a Chevy before I woned a Ford, heck, I learned how to drive a stick in a chevy. I've got a 66 Chevy Styleside at home waiting for its day of glory. It could be the 10 millionth truck Chevy sold, ever. I love fords, too, but mid 60s, the chevy's got it. In my part of the country (Alaska), the engines are cheaper, and they interchange better, too. Thats why its gonna get a 502 block, forged everything else, beefy tranny, and more likely than not a 20# supercharger. Its gonna be mean, and get about 3 - 4 miles to the gallon. It'll be my Chevy Thunder
. I might even give it the Chop-Top look. I do not need to worry about emmissions, so its gonna be all out. I paid $950 for it.
