Thanks for writing the stuff wrtten to the magazines, it is well appreciated from those of us that are too lazy to get a copy. I guess that rag should change the contest name to "Cool" truck of the year.

I have a copy at home. i got a kick out the "scoring" for the contestants for the "SPORTS TRUCK OF THE YEAR AWARD", there was an off-road catagory, points for hiway smoothness, cargo capacity, people capacity, creature comforts, the lightning placed last in all of those catagories, bringing down it's points for the things it scored #1 in. whoever supplied the "L" for a test like this, deserves to drive the (dak) winner!

"Raymond" writes, "Who started the sport truck craze anyway?" Well I hope he didn't think Ford did. Dodge did back in the late 70's with the Lil' Red Express Truck! Now don't get me wrong though, I would buy a Lightning before I bought a Dakota. But I would deffinately take one if given to me. I do think that the Lightning would have probably won if it offered a extended cab.

Thumbs down

Well, by that logic my (defunct) Civic Si should rate higher as a sports car than say a Boxster or S2000 because it has a cushier ride, holds more people, and can carry a lot more from Home Base than those cars can. Sheesh, sport means sport, give me a break.

Hey Berke,
Dodge might have made a lil red express which in its day was a great truck and still is BUT,Im certain the "sport truck craze" was undoubtably started bt Chevy in the 80s.Somewhat with the 86 style ,The 1988 ck is the real starter of the sport truck craze.

Cool

I e-mailed Ray regarding the article that was posted, and sure enough it was in fact him. I'm glad he posted it. Below is the e-mail he sent back to me regarding his comments on it. I wanted to let him know we were talking about it here at F-150.

"Hi Mike,
Just so you know it was me. I think its funny that they printed it.Im glad but
There response was a little weak. *lol*

Nice hearing from ya, you can tell them on the board that you talked to me, and yes it
was me in the article. Ray"
