Hi all,

I'm not trying to start any flame wars or shouting matches here, but has anyone read the letter in the May 2000 issue of Sport Truck magazine, pg 8? Boy, if that doesn't sound like 'our own' BADA$$SVT, I'll kiss your keester! At least this person attempted to set the magazine straight on their choice for 'Sport Truck of the Year'.

P.S. The letter writer's name happens to be Raymond.

That is BADA$$. I posted a topic about that article he refered to and he replied saying that he wrote them a letter.

 

DID THEY REALLY PRINT WHAT BADASSVT HAD TO SAY?

As a chorus of one, maybe two, I really had a lot of fun with BADASS.
The all caps gave me a headache, but he spoke his mind and pretty much never gave up.
If he could have laid off the profanity, he might still be here.
Kind of reminds me of my younger (middle) brother.

A sport truck should be rated by acceleration, cornering, and overall sportiness. If you're driving a truck with more than two doors, and it is blown away by the average grocery-getter, then it isn't a sport truck.
I often read letters about all the proud Dodge owners--it makes me sick! Dodge just came out with a truck that was socially acceptable five years ago. Before that, nobody exept old die-hard Mopar fans drove it.
Stop trying to make the Dodge people happy. Remember who pays your bills and tell the truth. Who started the sport truck craze anyway? Dodge owners should shut up. You guys better get your story straight, because you pissed off a lot of sport truck owners. We'll see who's got the sport truck at the drags and when we blow by them on the street. Wow, I am surprized they printed that. Did they have a response? Sounds like BADASSVT to me. If he really had ***** he would have written in CAPS though

 

For those interested, the reply to the letter in that issue reads like this:

"Don't hold back, Raymond, tell us how you really feel. When we got back and added up all the scores, we were as surprised as you when the Dakota Quad Cab won Sport Truck of the Year. We figured the Lightning was going to dust the entire field of entries--and it did in the quarter mile, but that was the only thing it dominated. But the story doesn't end at the track, and if you read the words instead of just looking at the pictures, you'd have learned why.
Also, we'd like to know what the minimum requirements is for a truck to be "socially acceptable" before it can be allowed to outperform the competition in its market. Don't get bitter because you're favorite didn't win. Maybe now's the time for you to lighten up a little, open your mind, and take a closer look at what Sport Truck is really about. It's not about brand loyalty. It's about cool trucks. Period. Read on for a more enlightened view."

 

So.....then what were the other fields that the Lightning lost out in?

Handling?
Braking?
Ergonomics?
