'Vette E-fans in an L - pic

This weekend I finally took on my e-fan project. I installed a dual fan setup out of an '03 'Vette. With very minor trimming, they fit absolutely perfect. And you can pick these up used for $100 or less. I used the MAD fan controller, and a set of Perma-Cool mounting tabs. Total spent - less than $200. Great alternative to the $400 setups out there.

They're dual 12" fans, very quiet and a ton of CFM:

Total Project cost? I know that MAD controller isn't cheap.
Nice mod!

Yep, got the fans for $90, the MAD controller is $90, and a few bucks for wires. Lots of clearance in the front now too. I love it!

Don't know, but take a look at the front facia on a Vette and you can see it needs all the cooling it can get. The fans are extremely strong, but for some reason nearly silent. Can't hear them from the front when the engine is running.

For anyone contemplating a DIY fan kit, this was a breeze. The MAD controller works great, is adjustable, and has a circuit breaker instead of a fuse. Another thing I like about it is that fan #2 comes on when 1) the engine demands it, and/or 2) when the temperature of the A/C condenser demands it. In other words, fan #2 doesn't come on and stay on just because the A/C is running. So on the highway, one or both fans can kick off.

Mounted the fans with this kit from Perma Cool, part # 105 - very secure, and it cost $5.

Thanks guys. I highly recommend doing this yourself. You save a lot of money, and have the satisfaction of doing something a little unique to your ride.

Who says it's all been done before? It's great to see someone come up with a great idea.

I think I'm going to go with dual 14 inch fans ...
P/N Hayden 3690

I might go with two 16" P/N 3712 in red...
