Post Goodyear Road Hazard Available

Just called Local Goodyear store. Found that for $39.00 per tire they will insure the tire against any damage. Retail the tire is $392 from Goodyear ( $220 from web )

The coverage prorates after 25% of the tread is gone however.
Tough Call - $160 to insure against $225 - 392 loss.

What do you all think ??

I work at a Goodyear. Should cost 35-45$ for all four tires. I got mine at cost about 7$ a tire. When you get roadhazard make shure they put list price of tire and new tread 32nds. Will help if tire gets a hole. Mine had 12K , but due to list and what I can get them for now did not cost me anything.

Thumbs down

Silver-

My experience has been that any tire store chain (Discount, NTB, etc.) will insure your tires for about $40 for all four, even if you didn't buy them from them. Do some more checking.

The beauty of the internet - if you guys are right - I have a bunch of shopping and negotiating to do. $40 is better than $160

Thanks !!

Well I couldn't get anywhere near $7 a tire...I got $25 a tire, NOT prorated. So if anything happens in the next 3 years that make the tire irrepairable (sp?) I get a new one all the way down to 3/32nds... Seems pretty good to me since I live in the middle of the desert (Tucson, :-) ). Another fun thing I learned a couple of years ago, if you live in Arizona, make SURE to add full glass coverage to your insurance, it's like $12 a year...got two new headlights for my 87 Mustang on one bad day behind a really big truck.

Talking

I checked with the local GY guy and said that list is $395 but they sell for $295. Road hazard is 10% or $29.50 per tire.

William, how much cheaper can you get them?

The last time I looked the Tire Rack price was $223.00 each +FET & Shipping. I have been told that dist. net is 201.00. In my opinion rediculos for a tire that won't even go 25,000 miles. and don't give me that speed rating crap either. It doesn't cost hardly anthing to build a speed rated tire. Ask the guys who were making quality tires for years before they had speed ratings. They were refered to as premium tires. What a Joke. I'm going to 16" rims where I have some options. You might be interested to know that the max load rating on these junky goodyear tires is only 1,687. All the Pirellis I'm looking at have a max load rating of over 2,200.

Just got the Road hazard deal from NTB (the Sears Tire Group). It was 10% of the replacement cost of the tire ($279.00 their cost) or $28.00/tire. Good at any NTB or Sears store. Will fix flats f/$0, will replace F/$0 for unrepairable with >75% of tread left-after that pro-rate.

You must find the right person to talk to-got shot down by two different NTB guys ("only available when you purchase thru us")
until I found one who would write it. Be persistent you can get it if you try.

I've driven about 1,500,000 miles so far in my life. If a set of tires lasted on the average say 30.000 that's 50 sets if tires or 200 tires. If I had purchased a road hazard warranty on each tire at an average cost of say $10 per tire I would have spent $2,000 on tire insurance. During this time I have road hazard distroyed two tires with blowouts. Total replacement cost $200.00.
Sellers would have made $1800 and that's before figuring proration for wear Road hazard insurance is not a wise investment.

Burnout
I tried that last year. The service manger was going to let me sell then for 5$ over are cost, 220 or 225 plus shiping. I would have to check to see. At that time tire rack was selling for 265 a tire. No one called ,or wote anything about it . So I let it drop.

PS no Y in last name.
