Well, finally the weather has cooperated and it looks like I'll be able to hit the track tomorrow. Not the best day as currently forecasted, but decent. Temp and humidity should be okay, but BP is low. I'm quite anxious to see how the truck will run with the new exhaust. I am hoping for some optimistic 12s Wish me luck!! I'll keep everyone posted, as always....

hey sal, i hope you make it to the twelves. i was hoping the same since i have the complete bassani kit.i also have a hypertech chip which i believe is my weak link in my set up. it is quite conservative with soft shifts and stock 5200 rpm shifts. i had a superchip at the same time because to compare the two. the superchip made more power, i was running 13.3's at 104 with no other upgrades. but i had problems with coplete loss of power after shifts. by the time superchip got it back to me i was past the 30 day free trial of the hypertech chip so i kept it and sent back the superchip. i wish i knew at that time about the psp chip. i'll probably get it this summer once my wife gets over the cost of my exhaust up grade. anyhow, i went to the track yesterday with hopes of reaching the 12's with these 2 mods and stock tires. i really wanted my psp filter to be installed to see how it would work together with the bassani, but it won't arive till next week. barometric pressure was low, not a good sign for best runs. i cranked out several 13.3and 13.2 runs with a best mph of 104.50. so power is definately up and i'm sure if i had th superchip or psp chip and my filter installed i would have been very close to the 12's. i don't know about the rest of you, but that's sort of a majic number to me. with drag radials and a better weather day on saturday maybe i would have gotten there. i really want to do it on stock tires so i can say i can repeat the performance on the street. the question could be how much money am i willing to spend to fullfill this obsession? i think i'm done after another chip upgrade and the filter install. because really no matter what these trucks are a blast to drive and i should be thrilled to have it. sorry for the long post i just needed to tell somebody!

 

Well, just got back from the track. Not the day I was hoping for. It was nice and cool (50 degrees), and the RH was decent (45%), but the BP was in the gutter (29.70). And there was a 20 mph headwind!! 20 MPH!! The truck went 13.40 all day long, like clockwork. I couldn't break a 100mph trap speed all day. Everyone else had really low traps too, so I would think the 20mph headwind was doing that. I also have to check the A/F with the new exhuast and see if the chip needs to be fine tuned with it. I'll keep everyone posted best I can, I'm not allowed to say much here anymore.

Hey guys, a couple weeks later and I was able to hit the track again. Weather was much MUCH better than the last outing above I did have a lot of traction problems this time though, but the truck was running 13.2xs even with poor traction. Best pass of the day was 13.209 @ 104.3 mph, so I know it's definately making more power. I'm going to do some more testing with the mid range timing and hopefully traction will be better next time. I did have 3 passes with the boost shut off though. I gotta get that cooler in there!! I currently have the brackets at my metal guys place to be mass produced for the kits.

He means that he has to walk a fine line between providing info and discussing topics one the one hand which is ok and selling his own stuff here which is not ok with the webmaster.
Personally I feel that Sal provides so much to us here that he should be allowed to become our OFFICAL TECH ADVISOR and therefore be allow some leway as long as he doesn't become blatant. He and everyone else with Lightning related products should be allowed (in my opinion) to post here the new product and upgrades. I have been to the vendor forums but there is not an exclusive Lightning vendor forum so you have to weed throough the other "stuff".

Maybe we could buy Sal special dispensation for an annual pass from the webmaster's wrath.

Well, as some may have noticed, I don't post that much anymore. I really would like to respond to a lot of questions that are asked, but I don't out of fear that Steve will complain. It was getting to the point that no matter what I said, he would bitch at me. If I mentioned anything that had to do with a part that was in my truck, or any part really for that matter, he'd say it was business related. I don't know what and what not to say anymore because Lightnings are my business and my pleasure, so either I say nothing or everything. I really think the whole thing is rediculous, and from board members I've spoken to privately, it seems the only one that my posts bother is Steve himself. People have even posted openly here requesting that I be allowed to share the posts I used to do. I really don't understand to whole thing. I'm on numerous message boards and mailing lists and they have all "welcomed" my posts and adverting of my products as they bring more business to them as well. I guess I'm just rambling on at this point, but I just needed to vent this out I suppose. No intention here to start message board debate, let's keep to the subject topic.

I know some people who charge for a lot less useful advice than what you bring....but I'm just saying and in order to avoid a new post....I got my air filter kit on yesterday after I got off work....and all I can say is Purrrrrrrrrrrr hehehe I am glad I got to run her a little bit yesterday because we are looking forward to another possible 2 feet of snow today I wuvva you Sal hehe

I have made F-150 Online's position quite clear. If you would like me to post each and every email message that we exchanged on these message boards outlining what is allowed and what is not, I would be happy to do it. It's not that tough to understand.

Do not use me as an excuse. If you want to post here, do it. As I have said many times before, publicly and privately. If you are afraid to post here because of my reaction to your posts, it would seem to me that your primary purpose is to promote your company and products, not Lightnings.

The reality is that I probably received more complaints from people than you received support. If you'd like me to post those comments here as well, I would be happy to, but it is not appropriate.

I did not intend on ever posting this, but since I am being used as his excuse, to his supporters let's put some perspective on this...the ad rates for F-150 Online that were presented to Sal? $300 to $500 per month...not exactly the kind of money that requires a second mortgage. Do you think he gets more value/sales out of these message boards than that?

Start your own message board. I'll bet about 98% of us would go with you. Not everyone who looks at the ads buys the products. It's already frustrating to many of us, that you can't post more often about products/technical tips because of your "profiting". Just voicing an opinion here.. But I'd venture alot of us agree..
