I have been called worse. Take a look at the facts. Approaching corner, gravel in the road, getting on the throttle. Sounds like a very bad combination to me. Throw in the "throttle stuck at WOT" leads me to driver error. I know there have been stuck Lightning throttles in the past, however in order for it to get stuck at WOT is has hit WOT. A cable actuated throttle cannot advance itself. Meaning the driver had to floor it in order for it to stick at WOT. Same theory applies to the floor mats. How many have had a floor mat advance the throttle? My Husky Liners used to slide forward and get in the way of my throttle too. But only if I got on it hard.

My floor mats usually slide backwards (away from the firewall) not towards it….

The gravel may have provoked the accident, and I may have hit the gas a little hard, but i left off the gas immediately and hit the brake, the witnesses also said that the tires were still spinning after hitting the tree. The witness also stated that the engine sounded like it never let off, but i know i hit the brake because i felt the abs.

I had a buddy that was in the same kind of wreck. His was a 2001 and he was pulling out of a parking lot onto a 4 lane road and he swore that the gas pedal stuck. Ended up jumping a curb, sliding through a barbed-wire fence. Didn't snap the fence, the wire drug all the way across the hood up over the cab. Ended up having a shattered front bumper, bent wheel, and totally scratched truck. Caused $6000 worth of damage. Weird to hear of someone else having the pedal stick...

Definitely weird hearing someone else have the same problem. Did a mechanic check the problem out? I have heard other stories of other cars having the same problem, rarely. It was one scary ride I can tell you that much.

It is very easy to investigate an issue with regards to possible throttle sticking. It may be a good story but I'm not sure if this matters to the insurance company. they have damages and need to cover them. If the problem arises from the mods then the responsability could fall on the owner.

If the issue is too many pops at the pool hall, then that's anothe matter altogether...

Floormat sounds like the culprit to me.
By the time you exit the vehicle after the accident, it could have shifted yet again, disguising it from being the cause.

It could have been, but there were way too many people inside and out of that truck to tell.

I only had a 4lb pulley cai and a chip, for engine work. So i don't think it is from the mods that I had. The insurance company is not going to investigate only because the passenger is not suing.

Truck is going to be taken apart early next week and inspected for frame damage. The body guy said it looks like a lot more damage then what the adjuster priced for, but I won't know until the middle of next week for sure.

3 or 4 years ago there was video posted here of a Lightning running the 1/4 mile
Throttle stuck, driver panicked, after crossing finish and still accelerating and threw the truck in reverse at 110 +

The cause was the floor mats with no hole for hook to hold them back

I'd like to see that video.
Did he start going backwards immediately?
I mean it was a Lightning.

Turn off the ignition instead of throwing it into nuetral...this will keep you from over reving when going down the track. When it happens going around a turn or something...I don't know that you can react quick enough to save your ****.

Def not enough time to do anything, brakes is about the only thing you can think of, happens way too fast for anything else.
