200,000 byte Animated signature gifs....

Guys

Noticed a couple of you recently added 200,000 byte animated signature gifs. Please dont make the folks who have slower connections suffer through those downloads....

Thanks in advance

Doug

How about not making those with faster connections have to suffer through those sigs, also.

02Thunder,

Click 'User CP' (Leftmost on the black line above)
Select 'Edit Options'
Go down to 'Thread Display Options'
Uncheck 'Show Signatures'
Save Changes.

Really cleans up Forum nicely for 'Lightning Like' speed reading.

I would be lieing if I even made believe I understand what you mean by
"suffer through those downloads" Doug ??? I mean ya my great great grandfather once told me about dial up modems (or something like that),
but honestly I access the net from numerous differant locals and computers and providers and have never ever been bogged down due to a wittle 400 x 200 pix sig ??? I mean chit some people have 1/2 page sigs that are double and triple the size of mine. But I am sorry and it's been removed, I'll only show it for special ocassions.

Sorry

Sorry
Its not the pixel size as in height and width as much as it is the FILE size - animated gifs are stacks of images that are plyed like a movie - so if you have 8 images that play take the total size of all 8 images and multiply by 1.2 or so and you get the size of the gif file that results - and has to be downloaded -

I knew it wasnt intentional - And didnt intend to pick on you, but I saw 2 similar sigs and figured there were more I hadnt seen ... A thread like this gets more attention so others can see it. One to many communication ...

Raouls suggestion is a good one - BUT we should try to limit signatures to under 30 k or so and only post them once per thread if that often...

Doug
