Hey, Billy Bob! I think you're messin' with us! I would suspect you are an older gentleman who has "out-riced" the "Rice Boys", from the look of your accessories (can you say J.C. Whitney catalog?)! You're probably a closet "ricer" the way you defend those guys! You give real good 'ol boys a bad name! I think you should change your handle to "RICE POPS"!!!

I remember seeing that Riceboy page about 3 years back.....I was in SHOCK the first time and it continues to astound me as to how great these folks think their cars look....oh well....I see enough of them up here in Canada and I just make it my daily laugh.

Bill....I agree with some of your thoughts on the Can Auto Workers....the Ford gent.s at Oakville really do give a care about what they build, however, as far as the other cars built up here.....I have owned 2 Z28s (95 & 98) and all I can say is that I am VERY glad that those people are not building our trucks because those cars are put together with much haste....enough said.

Cool

Paul G:

I have long ago lost the post I printed and it is off the board, but the Oakville boys were that concerned about how customers liked their Lightnings, or didn't like them, that they had a toll free number we could call and discuss the vehicles. I did it once and talked to an engineer who was very knowledgable and enthusiastic about the fact that Oakville got the nod to build these nastys over several other plants.
OH CANADA!!!!!!!

Just one more photo. Brought to you by the same folks that gave you the Lightning.

PS. If you care to check out the features on this car go to Zing and look under (new albums / rice burners). You will be surprised who helped to build this car.

BillyBob and now JimmyJoe:

I think I am going to change my user name to Cooter or Daisy or the Duke Boys.

BillyBob, and I am totally serious, get me a price for the Yosemite Sam Back Off mud flaps including ground UPS and I'll buy a pair from you and actually run them on my Bolt. I checked out the stack exhausts, and with the chassis config on the Lightning, it would be too much trouble. Maybe I'll just run a Confederate flag off the radio antenna.

Hey guys, I live in Southern California - home of the rice burners. It's been big around here for over 8 years now. One thing I witnessed that many of you may not know, is that a lot of these enthusiasts were given these "economy" cars by their parents, and wanted to make the most of what they had. I've seen everything from a 4 door civic with a dolphin sized rear spoiler, to a little civic hatchback that makes such an irritating noise you just want to hit something. But who knows if they had their own money they might have gotten a Supra turbo then we would have to give them respect right? It was and is a huge trend around here, one thing they have that I would like to take part of is the tons of beautiful babes that are always hanging out with them. LOL.

It's one thing to run nitrous to make it into a 16 second car, but to put all this racing stuff all over it because they think that is fast? One thing I love is schooling a rice burner while running errands. Fortunately all I have to do is drive down the right street and it's bound to happen.

But seriously there are some amazing things they are doing to these cars, there are Civics out there that COULD beat a Lightning, it may be modified up the a**, but I know 9 or 10 second Civics do exist. And even in a drag racing magazine, there was one article in their where a traditional hot rodder talked about how the "rice burners" reminded him of the old days when kids would make the best of what little they had.

But I do think it's stupid to make your car look and sound like it just came from LeMans when you couldn't even beat my stock V6 mustang. Even worse when you claim to be from a race team when it's really just a social "party and get girls" group.

One thing that a mechanic showed me before was his old Hemi engine, then he showed me the 4 cyl. engine in a Honda Accord, and said that it was Hemi - influenced. I'm sure you guys heard about the Honda S2000 that cranks out 240 HP or so with a 4 cyl. engine.

It is entirely necessary that manufacturers continue to build these cars. They should reamain a constant butt of our jokes and source of our rhetoric because FORD and other domestic auto makers need to be aware that many of us don't care for these cars. Remember a few years back. Ford was close to killing the the Mustang program after the fox bodies and were to intoduce the much maligned Probe as its new front-wheel drive "musclecar." For one reason or another, they did not (the 2000's are bad enough), and I thank God every day. My point is, we would slowly gravitate to these types of cars and trucks if it was not for this site and others like it. KEEP BUYING AMERICAN MUSCLE.

For those who's undies are in a bunch after reading the rice boy page, chill. You might want to read this:

or even

Personally, I found the site hilarious.

Hi Gang!
I sure do hope that everyone had a good laugh with all of this. Yes, the look of these cars can be very radical and hard for some of us to accept. That can and is the nature of change. I also hope that everyone realizes that BillyBob is a joker, just looking for a hoot. So long for a while, I'll again resign myself to the ranks of being a lurker.
PS. Bill. I don't know about the mud flaps. I my have to rip them off of someone elses truck.
