Thumbs up The Wait is Over!!

I come in to work this morning and have a voice mail from the sales manager from late last night that they just got my Red L in!! My heart rate just went through the roof. The bad thing is that my boss is out for this week so there is no way I can take the day off to go get it. I'll take a long lunch to see it and hopefully pick it up after work tonight.

Went to my dealer during lunch to see my L. It is so filthy. It won't be prepped till this afternoon. This is the 1st red L that I have ever seen. Picking it up at 4:00 today.

Heres some details: #1024, built 2/8/00. MSRP $31,375, all standard equipment; tow package, 6 disc cd changer, no tonneau. The stereo only has the cassette in the dash.

Congratulations Peter!

Boy, these L's sure are a kick to drive. I found that it's kinda cool to watch for near accidents in the opposite direction traffic from people 'rubber necking' to get a look at the L and foget to watch the road in front of them. Have fun!

Thumbs up

Peter B,
Congrats, and you won't be disappointed! I took mine up to a mere 120 mph yesterday, but it would've done more easily!

If I were you, and if distance isn't an issue, I'd go in to the dealer during lunch everyday and get everything done little-by-little. If your dealer's like mine, he'll get you out in <1 hr, including the test drive.

Way to go Peter. Another L in AZ. Now you won't look so lonely when we all get together.

Congrats,

Probably the longest day you ever spent at work. After an all nighter with the L, you
may not even show up for work tomorrow. Enjoy, and watch for the badges, they love red.

WiteSVTLite,

The sales manager showed me on the window sticker the build number and the build date. And I stand corrected, mine is actually 1062. If you look at the bottom RH corner of the window sticker, the last two sets of numbers indicate the build number and the build date. On mine the total series of numbers reads as follows: YB081 N RB 2X 019 001062 020800. This is what he told me, but I can't guarentee that he is right.

Cool

I wouldn't count on it. When I found out my number I searched my window sticker completely and could find no numbers that corresponded.

My window sticker says 019 001114 012400 so the 1114 probably isn't the build number.

Cool

I believe the date you saw is the date the computer generated the order for it to be built. It is generally built within a week to 10 days after that.

Wink

Peter,

On my 99 those numbers do not correspond to the build date and number. They do, however, correspond to the start of build date. That is, the date in that number series is the same as all of the numbers on the various parts, including the engine sticker. Maybe the 2000 is different.
