Airaid Air Box Photos
Thx for posting those pictures of the AirRaid box. I think that it looks great!!!! This is the setup that I was looking for. That along with one of the Outerwears pre-filters should do the trick for me. This system obviously works better than the stock setup and that is all that counts. The filter takes air from 360 degrees as opposed to the stock flat panel one. I like the idea that the filter is a bit more isolated from the underhood heat. My main concern with any of these systems are when you wash the truck or hit a heavy rainstorm....I am kind of worried about that side where the filter is because it seems that there is the potential for getting some water in there. Have to keep an eye on it when I install it.

MRBBQMAN:
I put the http in as you can see (the program seems to add that automatically anyway under UBB code, and it still does not come up. I know that it is easy to copy the URL, and see the picture, I just wanted to make it work correctly here.
Mike:
You remind me of Roger Vinci who owns a speed shop here in town - I have known him for many years. Every car, motorcycle, etc., that he has ever had is totally black. Black does look mean. My kid has a black, tricked out, lowered, etc., '99 Stang GT.
Paul:
I think that box gives it pretty good protection from moisture. That was one of my concerns with the widen open design of the PSP & Downs. It is nicely protected, and of course there is no filter material on the end of the K&N. Is the Outerwears cover a standard size, and where can it be obtained. Is that what the pre-filter is that Sal sells. If yes, where else can I get it, because I don't know when he will show again.

Sandy,
Well, Roger Vinci. A few years ago I visited Vinci's High Performance and talked Roger into installing a complete Borla exhaust system, plus an SVT shift rod kit, on my SHO. He did a great job. I remember he had a customer's original 427 side oiler Cobra in his shop, which he was preparing for shipment to Europe, and I thought to myself that if someone would trust his half-a-million dollar car to Roger that he must be okay. I also recall a black Harley Sportster sitting outside the shop. Must have been his. Small world.

Roger is meticulous. He is the only guy I have ever seen with an underground, hydraulic lift in his home garage. He subsequently had built (by another mutual friend) a monster garage for playing at home. Yes, that was his black sporty, which was replaced by a black Harley Bad Boy Springer.

Re: Airaid, an interesting thought comes to mind: I just received Airaid's catalog, and every filter setup they manufacture is of the tube type with K&N on the end. Sort of like Sal's and Downs. However, for the L, they engineered the box. Hmmmmmmmm. Methinks it was because of a superior engineering idea. Think about it.
I discussed an outerwears with the factory (K&N also makes a slip over pre-filter), and they really thought that running it stock was the way to go, unless you run in particularly dusty (and of course of road) conditions. I chose not to order one. It might be interesting to hear other thinking on that issue.
