Airaid Air Box Photos
A couple of you have requested photographs of the Airaid airbox. I have included two from different perspectives. I have not been able to get a straight answer as to whether or not pictures are posted here with HTML code. That is what I am going to do. If that does not work, you can view the pictures at: www.geocities.com/rodeodrive/9719/airaid1.jpg
and www.geocities.com/rodeodrive/9719/airaid2.jpg

<img src=http://geocities.com/rodeodrive/9719/airaid2.jpg>
Upon completion of this message, I discovered that apparently html code is not the way to post pictures. I notice off to the left there is a note that HTML code is off, and UBB Code is On. I'm not sure of the significence of that or how to change it. When I click on FAQ (where I hoped to have my questions answered), nothing happens. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

When I first got the kit, I could not understand the significence of the rubber rim that fit around the top of the airbox. Apparently, it was designed that way to seal the top of the box to the hood on closing (which it apparently does). That closes 3 sides, allowing air to come from the totally open right side of the box. I'm not sure of the design philosophy. I had assumed that that it was to keep hotter engine compartment air out in favor of air drawn from the wheel well, but I think Sal had mentioned on one of his postings that that was not a factor. Bottom line is that whatever the design philosophy is, it was dead on. I've got to get to Pep Boys to see if they sell K&N filter oil.

Steven:
THANKS so much!
Apparently that is UBB code, which is something I was not aware of. I know HTML, but not UBB.

I have never seen Sal's, although I should have a chance to in that a couple of locals are running his stuff. The K&N is closed on the right side, but it certainly has plenty of breathing area, and it certainly enhances perfomance. what do you mean by being careful with the filter oil? I have never cleaned one, and instructions do not come with it for cleaning. My assumption is that you use a cleaner on the filter such as K&N cleaner. Wash it out with water. Let it dry at room temperature, and then lightly oil the element lightly with K&N filter oil. What am I missing?

Thank you for the Airaid photos.It is very interesting to see that they used the bottom surface of the hood as the shutface for the air intake. Very clever. After you get some miles (500/1000) could you let use know if there is any wear marks on the bottom surface of the hood. Ducting cool air in should be very good. I would like to hear your performance results. Good luck.
PS. skydive69 Could you post a photo of your Lightning so that I may add it to the Zing Lightning album. Thank you.

BaBolt:
I'll let you know how it goes, but after two days, I don't have one negative comment. Meanwhile, here is a picture of my toy.

Apparently I am doing something incorrectly for the picture posting command. I am typing what you see above, but it does not fly. My understanding is that pictures are uploaded with the command: That is what I am doing, but it does not work. I am apparently missing something. Help.

Very nice looking ride, Sandy! Came close to "going white" myself but just couldn't shake this "black fever" I've had for the last 10 years. Every vehicle I've owned (cars, trucks, SUV's, motorcycles) has been the dark shade for the past decade. And, I live in Florida where the hot sun always (almost) shines bright. Go figure!

Box and truck looks great.I do still have a hard time believing that other than the k+n filter, I do not see the function of the system much different from the stock box. I think that is why you dont hear the whine that sals and downs make.If cold air insnt much of a problem with these trucks , i would think there is too much restriction for the air aid to make much of a difference other than the filter.
