Why me God?

so last week my woman tries kissing me while im driving resulting in a busted windshield and messed up front end on the evo. this week the L starts missing really bad after taking it out for a run. so i take it in and they tell me it needs a new ECU. okay not sure how driving hard busts the ECU, but he said it was covered so i went with it. today they tell me the new ECU didnt fix anything. the guy talked to a ford dude and said the ford dude told him to ask me if they could pull the heads. now since i live in a smallish town (30,000 people) i normally wouldnt worry about the 4lb pulley. but the guy tells me ford is sending someone to look at it after they pull the head!! im not sure if its a warranty or an SVT guy, but im sure hes gonna notice that perdy pulley sitting on the end of the crank and void me in a heartbeat. i guess its 300 bucks just to have them pull the head, tell me its ****ed up, void me, then put it back together and send me on my way wondering how i can come up with 2000 bucks. is there a chance he wont notice? can i tell em i bought it with it on there?

Is your car at the dealer still? Go scoop it up and swap the pulley. Or go down there find the mechanic, hand him a $100 and the stock pulley and tell him to hook you up. Worst case you are out 400 instead of 300….you do not want the pulley on when the SVT rep shows up and it will be an svt rep if they are pulling the heads on a L. ( I know from several occasions with my last L)
Get your butt down there and get the pulley swapped.

I think TECHNICALLY and LEGALLY ford has the burden and must prove that the modifications CUASED the damage to the motor.

That is true, but they sure don't follow it. For instance they
voided and refused my warranty on my cats because I had an
extra bung welded in the pipe for a Fuel Air meter.

They even look at the bolts on the pulley and the total look of the truck.
If it even LOOKS like you are a hot rodder you're in trrouble with the man.

Not fair, but most don't have the wherewithall to fight FORD

As hard as it is for me to say this, you should have taken this into consideration when you modified your truck.

Is this a certified SVT dealer? If not, they may be bringing in a wrench who has been thru SVT training.

Best of luck.

Didn't you post on NLOC that you took it in with a Predator tune still loaded into the ECU? I'm surprised that hasn't become an issue yet since they removed it.

Big,
It's still your truck man, be proactive. Get down there and take the vehicle back, tell them you want another opinion. Take it home and get things squared away.

Your dealer replaced the ECU only to figure out that wasn't it? WTF?

You need a better service department.

Someone needs to pull and read the plugs and probably check the oxygen sensors.

I wouldn't let them pull the heads! They'll only F up more stuff and cost you a ton of money.

mistake no 1: taking it to dealer
mistake no 2: taking it to dealer with performance tune flashed to ECU

You're not out much or anything yet and it is driveable, so go get it start over. Pull the plugs, start eliminating things yourself before somebody else monkeys around on it. good luck.

Hence the reason sooooooooo many people (such as myself) complain about dealerships. I'll personally have to be forced to go back to a dealership. I've been lied to at least 90% of the time I go in asking for quotes, getting work done, or just scoping out how they might go about doing something. And that's accross 5 different states too.

bigshooter.. I suggest not trying to decieve them in anyway. Just take it as it comes and be a good guy. Every once in a while you'll run accross people who will give you a break in life. If not take your lumps and learn *NOT* to go to a dealership.

Rich
