Walker,

I see that you are from Houston. If you'll look at my last post on this thread, I believe I could certainly help you out. I ordered mine from a Ford dealer here in Dallas. They just want MSRP. I actually put a deposit on the last 2K allocated to them, but I am trying to go with another dealership. If it works out with my company (I'll find out tomorrow or Tuesday), I'll be glad to let you take my place. Keep looking, but remember this opportunity is here. Even if you don't want to drive to Dallas, you can use this deal as leverage down there.

Walker...

Might at least call Texan Ford. I talked with them in November. A great salesman... Will Bozeman ... They still had one of 6 without a deposit on it. I believe the asking price was the sticker... $30,500. they are a great bunch... I told them I couldn't wait and they hooked me up with an individual selling one used! Can't beat that with a stick!

AirBurps/LightningDammitt:

You guys are great! any info would help with my dream. I do have a couple of deals in the works with dealerships outside of Texas but still looking for a "good deal". Now! the second hardest part is selling my wife this is a essential part of life since we have no kids yet.

Thanks

Walker, Set down with the wife and figure out how much it would be to raise a child and figure how much it's going to cost you for the L.
Also show her the resale on these trucks.
Depending on your age, you can always have a child, but as the laws and the EPA go, that Lightning may become a dream and real soon...
Also, that L will not keep you up at night and never turn into a teenager!!

There are lots of dealers in texas that were asking over sticker for the 99s. I also found that when I called around, Houston had the highest prices of any texas location I called. I eventually bought my bolt from Bankston Ford (DFW area) and the salesman was Jim Dawson. I got mine for sticker and a decent trade-in on my 97 4x4. As to the guy on ebay wanting the 4cyl honda, something tells me that this guy found some really great crack rock. 4cyl honda, ugh!
either that or he greatly overestimated the depth of his wallet when he bought it (more likely).

fordy 4,
I believe you are probally correct. lets all remember what happened in the 70s.We are in a much different/worse situation now. There has to be a point where the epa steps in here and doesnt allow high performance vechicles even if only for gas consumption, nevermind emissions. No auto companies are going to spend millions of dollars to build a high performance truck when it has to get 30mpg .these numbers are coming.Even if its not for ten years.Imagine the feeling in ten years when your 13mpg blown LIGHTNING is one of the last high performance vechicles on the road.Every year epa is getting worse and im waiting until they stop making high perfomance vechicles. I will just look in my garage with a big smile I think this may be a reason why mr.moss is holding on a SS . Thank goodness ford jumped in before it was to late.

Walker, if you'd be willing to arrange for shipping or come out here and drive it back, I know a dealer here in VA that will give you one for less than sticker.I got mine for almost 2K off of sticker, and I got it on a lease because I figure the buyout that we came up with is going to be less than what I can sell the truck for. By the way, I only pay $450/month on my truck with NOTHING down. Not bad.

The answer is that I love to beat the dealers up on their prices. I have never bought any vehicle I own for sticker. The best deal was on my Mercedes. I got 5K off on it, but on a Z-28 I once owned, I got the car for $16,200 on a sticker of just over $21,000. It takes a lot of shopping, and a lot of talking, but if you're able to wait out the dealer and buy at the right time, you can get a good deal.

My Lightning will cost just under 32000 out the door, this is with a hard tonneau painted to match (900), wheel locks (35) and a lojack (595), the tonneau will be warrentied by the dealer and the lojack cuts the insurance alot (~200 a year, from my agent)
So my base price (with dest) is 28640, thats over 2500 below sticker ($30,710+665), with no plan, I thought I did pretty well...
You must be lucky and a good dealer...

Typhoon...
Any information you have would be great! You can forward details to my personal e-mail address or hear on the board. I'm not in a big big rush to purchase, but looking for the best deal. Sounds like you know how to talk to sales people.

Thanks
Walker

Yoda,

As tempted as I am to do so, I think I'm gonna wait for a 1st ride in a Lightning when mine finally arrives.
