Post 99 Lightning for sale in Phoenix

On my way home from a nice cruise to Wickenburg today I saw a 99 Lightning at Bell Ford. Stopped and looked at it, it appears to be a used one cause they didnt have the factory window sticker on it. White, it had tonneau, tow package, no CD changer. The bad part is they want $34,995.

I can't believe some of the used prices, not complaining, it's a good thing for owners. I thought about buying a used one, then I started looking at the prices, same as new...

I like the part where he says,<clip>"I suspect there are only a few hundred of these that were sold by select SVT ford dealers."<clip>
And it has 18K miles for $31,900? Hell Id sell mine with less than 7K miles for $27,000..
They must have some REAL GOOD crack down there in Georgia..

Thumbs down

In addition to all the "misinformation" in this guy's ad, I noticed that the "Lightning" he shows in his pic does not appear to have the side exit pipes. Considering all the other bad info he is spouting, by any chance could the photo be a Photoshop retouch of the stock XLT sitting in his driveway?

Hey Peter I'll bet you that is the same one that you saw & talked to the guy about. I saw him there with his "for sale" sign on it when I took mine in a few weeks ago.

Yoda,

You may be right. The interior on this one looked perfect (unlike the one on Frank Lloyd Wright), and the tires looked brand new (of course both interior cleaning and new tires are easy to do). I think I should just cancel my 00 order for MSRP and run out and buy this used one for way more money! (of course this one runs a 13 second 1/4 with stock tires according to the guy-haha) Sign me up.

I did not check out the link, but as I said here before, I sold my Lightning to a local dealer for $27,000, and it was 6 months old with 6,000 miles. He turned around ans sold it a few days later for a tidy profit. My position is that even when the new ones roll out, the 99's will continue to hold their value beyond blue book. However, I don't think dealers will be allowing discounts like they did early on with the 99's. I bought mine for $28,000 but I don't think that will happen again any time soon.....Even the guys buying them on the "A" plan might find it hard to repeat that, since dealers are under no obligation to offer the "A" plan.

I wouldnt pay a penny over 30k for a used one. Even 30k is a bit rediculous. It seems like there are people out there willing to pay rediculous prices for these awesome trucks.

Right you are, 4D THNDR! I must still be feeling the after effects of Y2K eve bubbly. Either that or just wishful thinking about having pipes on both sides.

I'd like to backup what Mark (mswaim) said regarding new Lightning discounts:

I noticed in some earlier threads that several buyers received decent discounts on their purchases. I have tried very hard to get any kind of discount (not fooling myself, mind you...I knew what I was getting into). I even have a friend who works for Ford credit here in Dallas. Let's put it this way: I was lucky to find one at MSRP. I usually do business with A dealership rather than just going for price (long-term relationships and all that). While I managed to order one at MSRP from another dealer, I'd like to work with "my" company. It looks like getting one from them at MSRP will be a battle; they've been selling 'em for $3K over. It looks like I may win this one, though.

Hey Guys!

After reading all the posts about the great deals you guys got on the 99' I'm sure your "L"s are holding perfect value . At this point I'm in the process of buying mine and must pay the price! Here is a small sample of the e-mails I receive for the 2000 models:

"Thank you for contacting ****** FORD. Currently I am due to receive only 10 Lightnings for the entire model year. Silver is being offered this year.I expecting to start receiving the Lightnings the second quarter of 2000.At this time I am accepting deposits for the Lightnings. We are asking $41,375.00 plus taxes and fees for each vehicle."

Walker,

I went through the same thing last year with dealers not wanting to deal because of the limited supply and popularity of the Lightning (but 41K, Ouch). After calling around, I found that the dealers in the Detroit area were the most willing to deal. It might be worth it to make a trip to Detroit and drive the truck back if you're serious. I'm sure some of the folks on the board could hook you up since it seems like Michigan has a pretty strong presence on this board. I had good luck with Jerome Duncan Ford in Sterling Heights, MI on a 2000. Fortunately, I was able to find a local dealer who was willing to match their price on a 99 (after I told him I already had a 2000 lined up).

Thanks-again Scooter...

I'll try a couple more areas in the south then move north as my final purchase place. You know that feeling you get about finding the perfect deal! That's me!
