Yeah i've been reading mp3car.com for over a year now. I originally started a Car PC project for my Cobra, but stopped when I noticed how much work it really is. This project is going to take a while to gather the funds for it all....

Black02SVTL and Mecca-

Yes, I would love a "how to" on moving the A/C controls up to the top. I'm *this close* to putting my gauges in, but would prefer to wait for a write-up on doing the overhead A/C controls. That would allow me to put them up top, and put 3 gauges in the dash. Look forward to hearing from you guys!

I'm also doing the Expy center console mod, where I will mold a DVD tray into the storage tray of the Expy console, and i'm going to place the computer inside the Expy console. Your work looks great! We may be working some bugs out together.... Do you plan on painting it black like the stock surround? I haven't decided if im going to texture it black like the stock surround, or paint it to match my truck like I did on my 02 L. Take it easy.

Rustoleum, makes a black textured paint that matches the stock NEAR PERFECT. I did the same thing a while back but got tired of dealing with my digital WW screen so I scrapped it.

Hey man your idea sounds exactly like mine. I was planning on putting the computer in the center console but I started worrying about ease of access and other such things, so now I might get a cheap laptop and mount it under the seat, then run and external DVD/CDROM drive that I will mold into the expi console. I also plan on investigating that new verizon wireless network. If its worth the money Ill hook the laptop up to it.

That screen looks like a perfect fit. Obviously with the modling job you did too. What kind is it, and is it a touchscreen?

Mine works fine. I'm finally getting around to molding the stupid thing this week. I've had the computer running for over 3 years. First one used all full size parts new one is all mini. I have to say Western Digital might not be the fastest laptop drives around but having a Rockford Fosgate T1 10 firing right at it put's the shock protection through the paces.

The screen is an 8" Lilliput Touchscreen. As far as the Verizon Wireless Network...... I own a small service business, and in each of my trucks I have a laptop with a Verizon card. It works flawlessly for my techs, being able to pull up customer info, job information, map out routes, and being able to print invoices on the fly. Needless to say, a Verizon card will go in my truck....
