I was one of the Ford employees who was upset about the deck surface stuff. I don't make the 5.4 but I Mgr the 4.6 and we do an hrly 110 pnt check for head deck surface.

Please dont take this the wrong way.....I have been in the machining, manufacturing, toolmaking business for 30 years and I have seen some stuff

Are you sure your guys dont have one good block sitting in the corner that they send to QC periodically and just keep the line running while the good one is being bought off.....Like I said I've seen some stuff....so don't take this wrong.

I'm not taking it the wrong way

Would I be out of line by saying "Bite Me!"

Hey I know there is exceptions to every thing and I can't speak for all of FM North America!

God Bless,

Lets face the facts Ford didnt write those TSB's saying to check the straightness on the Motor for nothing, or metion the leaky heads, or ok them to change gaskets, or or or...
Dont ever take it personal Suavy, but the facts are the facts, and they are very clear, even in Fords eyes in this case.
I hear you Rob, and I understand where you're coming from. I did receive an e-mail from Sal after the last tango telling me that the Block in mention was a reman block. I did in fact take the thread to my engineering staff to enlighten them!

Rob, you & I are buds and nothing is gonna change that. As far as personal any one who is passionate about what they do or how they make their living would ten to get their feathers ruffled wouldn't you agree?

No I think we need to spend a little time doing our cultural ceremony of exchanging the peace pipe!

Peace,

Suavy

First, are you trying to tell me that, Robs valve springs where as good as a set of brand new Ford springs?
Even after post after post of Rob telling tales of 6K shifts, WOOOO-HOOOO's racing at 100 on the highway? Many nitrous bottles run thru his motor?
Remember the pics of his bearings? Sure is hard to believe that a set of valve springs would be in "good" condition if the bottom end was in that shape.

And let me make something..........VERY CLEAR

I DID NOT any "digs" towards you. I sure as hell don't see any. And the only "digs" as you put it, that I make towards your engine builder, is Robs calling him the BEST !!!

So any "stupid comments" being made sure as hell aren't coming from here
I think the real problem is that Rob is talking. Seems that whenever he posts anymore threads go south, and he just digs himself and those involved deeper.

Less WOOOOHOOOO, more shhhhhhhhh.

Suavy, all the 5.4 blocks I use are brand new, not used or reman. Every block I've taken to my engine builder has been VERY out of spec. He said the FIRST modular block he checked when he got his new zillion dollar CNC block machine was used, and it was also out of spec, but he chalked that up to it being used. But every new 4.6 and 5.4 block he's put on since, needed serious decking and squaring. He even had a guy from the machine's company come down to check the blocks himself, to make sure it wasn't the machine or how he was using it.

Oh, and don't shoot me, I'm just relaying the info .

Whatever Rob writes or says.....he does with the best of intentions and thats all that counts with me. I am pretty damn sure he doesn't mean any harm to anybody and again he has the best of intentions but sometimes things go wrong.....I'm not sure its his fault tho.....

I understand that. But given the current trend you'd think he'd learn to just leave well enough alone.

Well controversial or not....one thing is for sure....if you can weed thru the Gator and Rob stuff and the who's smokin what old tennis shoe crap...you have to admit....there has been some meaningful tech burried in those threads, if you are willing to sit thru it and learn.

Yep 16-18 seems standard for an Eaton street tune, and 14-16 standard for KB / Mag. As for the race tune it seems 18-20 is the norm.

I am truly sorry this post went this way, all I was trying to point out (since this started as a lifted head post), was it really really pays to check the clearances before just bolting them on, then my ole Pal came in and fired me up. I do let him get me going sometimes, SEE WHAT YOU DID GATOR
&*@$@$%@*$%@$*(%@$*(%@$*@$%(@$.

I AM SORRY EVERYONE and especially you 2bScrewed, I just keep getting myself in trouble it seems lately : o (
Believe me it's the dam truck and soon I hope this is all behind me.

Thanks Dale and your right, I truly ONLY want to help. Unfortunately I had to learn 10 fold what most did on and about their L to work out some of my shortcomings, and I ONLY TRY TO HELP by passing some of that info on.
I REALLY REALLY have learned NOT to WOO HOO every little thing anymore,
especially on my truck. Schitt I don't even talked about what I feel my L can do anymore, because I dont know what it can do anymore, :o

Suavy that Bite Me was the best thing I've heard form you yet, hehehehehe
and I am sorry to You too, I was just making a point, got attacked, and it got out of hand. And Ya Gator I'm even sorry to you too, EVEN KNOW YOUR THE ONE THAT GOT ME STARTED (@&$%@$^%(@$%@($%@$($@

SMOKE UM IF YOU GOT UM
