Lightbulb High boost guys inside-->>>

This is what happened Wednesday-->>

Went to the track with the race tune Wednesday. Had mostly unleaded 104 for fuel...The L pulled hard through 1st into 2nd then 3rd..At about the 1200 foot mark the motor shut completely off. Just like if you turned the key off... Thought I blew something and coasted all the way around on the return road and stopped. Got out and popped the hood to fine everything intact but the KB had burped some oil out the vent and was on the bottom of the hood... Got back in the the motor started right up and seemed ok...Very weird... That pass was 11.5@105 Next pass I had a worse 60' and ran a 11.7@117... I was dissapointed because I'm running the 2.75 upper now seeing around 20# of boost. Went for the 3rd run and the 60' was worse and the motor did not feel very strong... Ran a 12.3@113.. Engine had a slight miss so I thought I burnt a plug...Got home last night and pulled the plugs when the motor cooled. They all look good except for 1 which showed some signs of running lean but no broken or melted pieces. Put all new plugs in because I thought part of my problem was that the plugs that were in there were gapped at 35 thousandths... Too wide IMHO for that kind of boost. The new NGK Iridiums TRX-8's are now gapped at around 29 thousandths... Loaded the street tune back on and started the motor... Seems like something is not right. It is not as smooth as before...I don't know if I have a bad coil or what is going on...I will changed the fuel filter first especially since the near 100% diet of blue 104 octane... I'm also going to have a compression test done..I hope nothing is wrong like a bad valve or something...maybe a broke valve spring.
YESTERDAY
I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out what was wrong. The engine shuting off and the burped blower oil had me confused on what it could be when all of a sudden a light went off in my head and I told myself I have burped the blower oil once before and that was when the vacuum line on the driverside of the blower midplate had blown off...This hose is under boost at heavy throttle.. So ding ding I did some checking and found the pcv hose at the lower part of the intake had blown off... I clamped that other hose so it would not come off again. So now I reinstalled the pcv hose and zip tied it tight. That hose is a major pain in the a$$ to get to with the blower on.. My point here is for high boost guys to make sure any hose on the boost side of your blowers are secure... Here is the pcv hose in question...

Good post!

I'm not running the boost you are (about 12-14), but I eliminated my PCV system a couple of year ago and I just plugged that lower line at the line itself - and I kind of wondered what the chances are that line would blow off at the lower intake under pressure.

Mine WAS the same as your is... It blew off at the bottom of the intake... As your boost increases the chances of an unsecured hose coming off is likely...

Great Post Jeff
Sorry to hear of your troubles, but glad to hear it's now fixed

Ok if I can stop staring at the beeeeeeeeautiful dancing *** a minute let me get this straight, cause god knows I pull off my PCV hose weekly to change plugs. I pull the hose out of the SC, out of the valve cover, and then I pull it out of the tee and remove the entire line.

So the hose that pulled out you speak of is off of that "T"
HOW THE FK did you get back and under there ??? I lost half my Craftsman tool box back there and havent retrieved a frigging thing yet ???
AMOF just last saturday I added a rachet, long extention, univeral, and socket to the collection #%#%(#%^(#%&^(#%^#%()^#%(#^%(#*

This was the hose/line that came out of the pcv tee on the passengerside of the blower.. The hose/line came out of the rubber that is at the bottom of the intake. I think the part that actually secures to the intake is clamped from the factory but where the line/hose comes down from the tee just plugs in. DOES SOMEONE HAVE A PICTURE OF THAT ROUTING? Is was a pain to get it back together. I had to remove some stuff on the driverside so I could snake my arm down the back of the blower...

Yes actually I do at home, (I'm at work now) aint doing a MF thing either, woo hoo

Jeff if no one post a pic, when I get home I will. I happen to have some great shots of the REAR of a Lightning Motor (out of the vehicle) with all lines attached. Those hoses have always scared the crap out of me, cause some look absolutely impossible to get to @$@$@$(*@$%(@*$%@$(%@$(

Oh great now my quest for the next X Wife just got harder

ROTFLMAO....Your DA MAN Rob......I would love to see some pictures of that pcv line that goes to the back of the intake...Like I said if I remember correctly the hose is clamped right at the intake from the factory. It's the next connection out that popped on me....

Thanks Rob... You wouldn't happen to know if that lower hose AT the intake is clamped would you? Mine came off at the first connection out from the intake... I'm thinking it is clamped from the factory...
