Seeing that picture a thin nut won't be much help. Looks like a good portion of the male threads will have to be ground off as well. Looks like Belltech didn't do enough homework. Lower control arm has nothing to do with the fit. The Lightning arm has a steering stop the F150 does not. Otherwise they are identicle.

I once had a contact that would modify an oem spindal and reweld the shaft to get a 2" drop. He HIGHLY stresses that the modified spindal could only be used with 20" rims because the clearance on 18's was to tight and would cause alot of problems.

Maybe Bell-Tech installed the spindals on a truck with 18x9 rims. Could be that the extra .5 width on our rims is causing this issue.

Sounds like a set of 20s would fix all these problems!

IF that was my truck I would be very skepital to drive it IF that is what will be left of the nut.On the ball joints you need to get them to atleast 75# of torque so they seat in the taper. And if you use a thinner nut all bets are on that!let alone get a cotter pin in it.the only way I can see it work is to take it off and install the stock on again.OF maybe get the self locking nuts that are pinched at the one end to actually be an interference fit on the threads.
PS the ONLY diff between the control arms and the spindles on the lightning is the steering stop and THAT is it.Stan

Yes, I sent all of my pictures to them. I emailed him today about which carrier they used so I would know about what time to expect the package. I should have asked for the tracking number at the same time but I figured since he said they would overnight it there wouldn't be an issue. We'll I just have to call/email him tomorrow.

I asked him to ask their engineers to make sure using a shorter castle nut was safe and they apparently thought it was ok, so....

Andy.

What are the chances of you sending me one of these kits over to London UK for my 03 'L' as I have no chance geeting one from a UK vendor.

Can you e-mail me at rfmpipeline@aol.com with details.

Thanks Ricki

I don't know if you noticed; but, this thread is almost a year old. Don't know if they would still have those last few kits any longer.

Besides, us Yanks have installed so many of them, that we get "ourselves" tangled up in the steering wheel during "spirited driving."

Oh well just have to stick with my Metco's & custom mounts - cos you can't fit Metco's when you have Western front lowering mounts on yer rear leaf.
So a bit of re-fabrication was required - works though.

Dropped the front a bit taking a coil off the stock springs but it sits right on the bump stops on the lower wishbone. ( our roads are pants here & full of pot holes and un-regulated iron work.) (manhole & service duct covers)

So was gonna get some stock svt springs and go for the drop spindles to retain some travel in the setup, plus change the shocks but have had mixed reports on the QA 1's

May have to look at another supplier for stronger anti sway bar and look at the rear end set up a bit more.

Bit of trial and error and road testing again.

Cheers Guys

If you go back to stock coils, why not use the stock Bilsteins?
