I installed a Ported Eaton (Wasp Generation 2)

This is not the end of the Mag, and this WILL NOT become a Mag Bashing Thread.
Charles and Magnum have been great, I love the Screaming Boost, I love everything about it,
and Charles is a good friend. It's no secrete I am however very unhappy with the power level,
and lack of tuning capibility we have. 26 Dyno tuning pulls and all we can muster is 444 HP,
it just isn't exceptable, and I must know if the lack of tuning capibility is S/C related.
I know my springs play a part, but Sal really doesnt want to install new ones,
(PITA JOB) so I'm out of choices other than a KB
(that I dont have money for, nor trust for reliability)

So here it is

I hope to Dyno it later this week, and see what we can come up with ???

Took it for a nice long ride yesterday, I did lose A LOT of boost
down from 22lbs to 17, but it was 77 degrees and sunny.
Feels dam good, and actually quite responsive,
I did a 0-80 mph burnout from 1st through 2nd and third, and it was pulling like a mo fo the whole way.

Only time will tell ???

THANKS WES, A TRUE WORK OF ART
Awesome Port Bro, (HUGE THUMBS UP)
The Generation 2 WASP lives, WOO HOO............

I think you missed an opportunity to be the first to port their Magnum. Come on Ronbo... Be the guinea pig.

I've talked to charles many times about that,
and he keep telling me any modification to the opening will render it useless ?
Belive me I HAVE GIVING IT MUCH THOUGHT though

This is a test, only a test, lets see what results I get ???
God knows 26 Dyno's on the Mag will give me plenty to compare too,
THERE WILL BE NO OTHER CHANGE, amof it'll be a lot less boost,
(2.93 eaton pulley compared to a 2.7 Mag pulley)
(I sold all my Eaton upper pulleys #$%(#*%#(%)

Looks like plenty of room to open it up to me

Rob,

I've been holding my comments for months, but now the time has come. You can't expect to make the HIGH horsepower unless ou are wiling to spend the money. We all know your bottom end is bullet proof, but that doesn't make power, that is only for reliability. You didn't poirt or polish the heads when you had them off. You had the sparkplug TIMECERTS installed, (which is good) but that doesn't make power. You need to hollow out those heads and the lower intake to get the air flowing!
You have the exhuast done correctly, but you aren't using it to it's full potential yet.

Cams? I don't recall if you hve cams or not, but there is 45rear wheel HP.

I know you did this on a budget, and that was one of the main goals, High HP on the cheap, but generally you get what you pay for.

At this point, you can always turn up the nitrous for the track and be content for the street, or go through it all again and add everything you skipped over.

Now, don't take this the wrong way, I'm not attacking you, infact I've been following your threads closely and was disappointed with your final numbers. however to make the big numbers you have to get the air flwoing through the engine without restrictions. I think those restrictions are your heads.

remember an engine is only an air pump. the more air you can pump through it the more power you are going to make.

l-menace has hit it on the head. I expected more than I got with the MP blower case as well. I added a 6# pulley and am in the same neighborhood as Rob. The next thing I'm doing to the truck will be heads and cams. That's where the power lies for me right now. Still on the stock block and planning to stay that way.

Hey rob i have a extra snout with a 2.8 on it if youd like to try it to test but id like it back since it is kinda on my truck. just let me know if i could help the test in anyway because i know the mp performed slower than my ported eaton for me and id like to see your results. I can think of a few others that have this same problem

Sorry that you don't trust the reliability of the best blower we can get for our trucks... I have had no problems yet... But some have, but KB has always taken care of them quickly...

I agree that the heads are a problem for Rob. I'm sure he wanted ported heads and a KB for that matter during the build. You have to remember that Rob is a single parent so unless he has a money tree in the backyard or one helluva job there is only so much money to go around.

Good luck to you Rob. I know you'll find a way to squeeze a few more ponies out of her.

Sorry to hear you dropped the MP. I have ported heads and stage 2 cams and have 510rwhp and 600 rwtq. You need both of those things for the bigger #'s in my opinion.

i don't understand

i really don't understand what's going on. I've seen magnum dynos well over 460 hp on just a 4lb lower

How are you putting out 22lbs of boost and only mustering those hp numbers

If the boost is building to those number then the air must be moving.

I mean you have someone that's as experienced as any tuning so i would say that's ruled out.

Just don't get it Ronbo. I bet you'll put up better number on that ported eaton though. I pulled 437 rwhp std on a wasp blower and a 4lb lower, stock upper.

Did you upgrade your maf and fuel system as well?

Rob, As I read through the posts I can't help but feel a bit bad, but I do agree with the others the mods that you made built a solid platform to make power, I would bet with the addition of ported heads and cams plus the use of your MP blower theres 100 plus HP to be had, you know as well as anyone speed costs, period. Heres my 2 cents for what it's worth, don't repeat don't touch the MP blower case, take the time to pay off some of the motor build and put aside some cash to do the heads, cams and tune ect... I tossed a $15,000 motor looking for an easy 30 extra hp, be smart. Good luck, Todd
