Well....

I had a VERY long weekend, I was wiped out last night. I was going to do some tuning this past weekend, but an opportunity arose that I couldn't pass up.

I went to the NMCA Finals in Memphis, TN (not on purpose, more on that in a minute.) I was informed there was a car show there, so I spent all evening Friday, and into 3:30AM Saturday morning cleaning on the truck. Slept till 6AM, got up and drove 160 miles to Memphis. I registered for the show, and proceeded to clean on the truck some more. After I got judged, my dad and I watched some of the racing. Went for the awards presentation, and bagged 1st in the "Best Truck" division.

THEN came the best part. A guy from Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords did a photo shoot on my truck that evening. After that I left and got home about 10:30, went to bed at 12:30 AM. I got back up at 5AM to clean on the truck more for another show Sunday. That one I tied for 1st again in the "Ford Powered Special Interest Truck" division. Here's a pic after Sunday's show. I'm the 2nd from the right.

So, after 2 1st's in show and a mag shoot, I'd say putting the tuning off a few days was well worth it. I did get a new favorite wax too. I used Meguiars #24 Yellow on my truck because it's supposed to look awesome on red trucks, and I'll have to agree.

I hope to get on the dyno this week/weekend for some tuning. Stay tuned for more pics/videos.

Good job on the two, first places. I was just wandering where you got the top and bottom grills from. I really like the fat look.

The ABS unit has three outlets - one for each front wheel and one for the rears.

The best use of space would involve fabbing new lines, but essentailly, you're just repalcing the front portion of the ABS unit with a Tee and the back portion with a coupling. A proportioning valve would need to be added to meter front-to-rear brake bias and this could be installed as the coupling for the rear line.

There may be some ECM stuff to deal with but I think the ABS has its own processor. Simply unplug the ABS light in the dash and no more warnings.

EDIT - Damn the timing Shawn - we were typing at the same time

The vehicle speed sensors are run through the ABS, I tried this on a ford Excursion with a lack of brake pressure- it worked but I had no spedometer and no trip or odometer. corredt me if I'm wrong.

My speedo, trip, and odometer work fine. My whole ABS motor and computer are gone, as well as both ABS sensors from the front hubs.

Now that you got it driving around I wanted to ask you how it was with no ABS? How are the brakes working and such? I hate how the ABS works when you modulate the braking a little then it kicks in and you don't have as much braking power.

HI!... Or you could relocate the ABS MODULE like I did. I couldn't live without my ABS. Truck would never be able to stop!!!!

Actually Casey, the braking is a lot better without the ABS than with it. The pedal has a much better feel to it, and I get a lot better feel of what I'm doing with the brakes. I have gotten on the brakes pretty hard a few times to test it out. Works great!

shock would you snap a shot of how you plumbed every thing not using the ABS system?

Thank you,

Peace,

Suavy
