Does anyone care about FFW anymore?

I guess I would expect more production value for that $$. See a piece of that $$ spent on stuff a spectator can see.

Just make sure you carry sunblock.
It gets very hot in Bristol and the whole place is black topped. Very nice facility.

of course i did get way too close to the nitromethane coming out of a top fuel dragster. pretty weird feeling first time you injest a bunch of that into your lungs! not so pleasant a sweet racing fuel

Very interesting read fellas........
haven't been around in awhile as I was sucking on the Overtime tata's. The coins are great, but my dead *** is draggin.........
Can't add anything, but the comment about rodeo clowns, got me thinking. I would be happy to supply the air fare to ship Rob02 to the events to be the "clown"
In any event, looking forward to seeing new faces and greating old faces at the Va and Joisey events.

Well, if nothing else, I hope this post got some attention. TT really is like rodeo clowns to the FFW people. I think we are some of the most dedicated racers, and best people to be around that I have met. It would be nice if FFW were to pay us a little respect. Do you guys remember the days in 99/00 when you could take your bone stock or chip'd CAI Llightning down the track on a 13 second run, and the announcers would go wild and the fans would cheer at the sight of a pick up truck running like that? That was great. Now its like "Ok race fans, time to go refill your 8 dollar soda while they run the pick up trucks."

Here's a fact. People don't watch handicapped start racing. It's not the Man keeping you down.
It isn't just because the class has trucks in it. The stands clear out for Open Comp, Mod Motor, and Wild Street too.
It's not fun to watch for the average spectator. Especially when they have Pro and Outlaw (and that godforsaken Jet Car) there on the same day.
Racing in TT (or NMRA truck and Lightning) is a chance for a racer to get to run 3 qualifying passes on Saturday, and be placed on a real eliminations ladder to run on Sunday. You also get points that can accumulate so you can get a real nice ring or jacket or trophy. There's contingency, and prize money, and magazine coverage (in NMRA anyways). You have a Ford truck? You get a chance at all of that. Seems like a pretty sweet deal to me. So what if the head of the organization doesn't watch the trucks race? Who cares? You've got a place to race.
You get almost all of the perks and rewards of heads-up racers without anywhere near the hassle, expense or time involved. That's pretty good when you think about it.

On a pass I made, myself and the other driver both hit within a couple thousandths of our dials...and we both cut 00 something lights. My son is telling me how much he liked such a close race. Being proud of myself, I make a comment about wether or not the crowd got a kick out of it. He jokingly said he didn't know, they all headed to the bathroom when TT started do our elimination rounds....problem was...the crowd really did run off.
I really don't mind, I just refuse to take myself too seriously. I get my fun from the friendships and respect I give and get from my fellow racers. After all, that's what it's all about anyway.
