It's so not an issue with our trucks and ride height, but it would have been nice to have some pics showing the correct way to install them with the bars (so we don't look like dorks!)

You know, I can handle it! But when I check-fit them first the other way the bars looked like they would have been close to hitting the slot in the bracket so I put them on the way I did.

Oh well...............

Wrong Nuts

Ok I recieve my JLP Tractions Bars....

But the nuts that they sent were the wrong ones... The correct size but wrong thread.

So After 3 hours of searching every store in the area I found some nuts that would work.

The install went well with no other problems.

However I think I installed the front brackets wrong from looking at the previous pics, but I 'm gonna go out and double check right now.

thanks again for the help everyone!

3 hrs of searching?

Dang... I could have put them on, taken them off and done it again in 3 hrs.

The pictures are wrong. I think either way you should be OK. The correct way, with the new style front brackets gives you a little more ground clearance. Wish these were out when I installed my bars!!! -Mat-

I could VERY well be wrong but it looks like the driver side is OK and the passenger side is wrong. Could it be possible you got two of the same front brackets>??? Maybe it is just me, but that is how it appears. -Mat-

Hopefully at least now Johnny might realize that some pics in the instructions showing which way they should go would be a very good idea! You can't turn them around now without having to drill new holes either. Like I said, I looked at them and when they're mounted correctly it looks like if the rear suspension was unloaded the bar could hit the end of the notch in the front bracket and bind/bend the bar. (like if the rear of the truck was on jackstands with the stands on the frame, or you were "Bo Duke'n the truck!). It probably won't but because of how it looked I put them on the other way.

Ah, don't sweat it man. It's not like your going to be driving down the road and people are going to go, "hey, your tractions bars are on the wrong way". It ain't gonna happen.

Bottom line, they work the way you put them on. BTW, that pic that camcojb posted is of MY truck. And guess what, I agreed with him when we installed them, that they work best the way we installed them. I'm happy and won't put them on the other way.

But, JL should go ahead and do a better/more detailed instruction packet with good quality pics so folks won't get confused in the future. My $.02.

Steve

I just noticed this weekend that I sheared off one of the 4 mounting bolts for the front bracket on the jlp bars. I replaced it easily with a new bolt but man, that was a grade 8 3/8" bolt in there. The bars must really stop alot of torsional force if they did that. I have no idea how long it was sheared off, at maximum it was 20k miles since that's how long ago I last checked the torque. For the record I was told mine are backwards.

Your right.

We'll just leave his listed as Zilla (half the name)
