Just wait til someone builds an Adrenaline with a KB and #16 of boost. Think of all the driveline failures.... Hopefully they over engineer it.

I like it, but its not a Lightning and can never fill the shoes of the best sport truck in the world.

Chris
ps, If I get my hands on one, its going to make a trip to the sand dunes

I wonder how much abuse they put the AWD setup through? Are we gonna smash it launching on slicks repeatidly?

"Lightning owners like stuff that dosent break" hope they picked up on that too.

Ray
No need for slicks with AWD. Actually it is better to launch AWD with street tires and get a little slip. STi's are consistantly doing 1.6 60ft times on street tires. Slicks on an AWD will break parts fast.

From reading the press release, I got the impression that the Adrenaline might be available in both 2WD and 4WD configurations.

"The Adrenalin evolves the fun-to-drive character of the Lightning, while addressing these requests. It features four full-sized doors, providing easy access to comfortable seating for four adults. The drivetrain is designed to accommodate rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive configurations - another first for an SVT-engineered vehicle."

Now if that is the case, the power to weight ratio on a 2WD version might be really interesting...

Don't think it has anything to do with L owners' wants. My bet is they made a deal with Roush, giving them exclusive on the full size truck, now that ol' Carroll's name is gonna be on the Mustang.

To me, the vehicle just looks gawdy.

The grill. We talk smack about Dodge's huge grill, and we like this one? The wheels look cheesy IMO, and I'm sorry, but the HP factor does not outweigh the poorly/uncreative design that Ford did on this one.

Who knows? Maybe it looks much better in person?

Anybody feel that on many of Fords new cars, they are out of ideas as far as making something with an exciting new look? I still haven't grown fond of the boxy new F150 look.

I know everybody's already seen the new Cobra (Shelby Cobra GT500 whatever) as well as the SVT "Adrenaline" Sport Trac but since Vin forgot his camera, here's a link to some pics that I took.

there are plenty of better ones available from any number of sources on the web. but in all fairness, the press gets the slight advantage of being able to take photos without having to contend with thousands of event spectators standing around trying to get their own shots at the same time.

like this:

It was a good show, I'd highly recommend anybody who's never been to a MAJOR show to make time to do it. we drove all the way from VA because there is no big show down here. Detroit, Chicago, NY, LA, or Miami. NY was the closest and I definately enjoyed it.

anyway, here's a link to my pics:

later,
chris

I got this from an article about the motor

"But, adding forced-induction power is more than just a bolt-on proposition. The engine's internals need upgrading for the sake of strength and durability. To that end, the Shelby Cobra GT500's powerplant benefits from unique connecting rods and forged pistons to handle the extra strain on the lower end of the block.

An all-new intake manifold helps to efficiently channel the supercharged fuel-air mixture into the cylinders. The low-profile manifold design also effectively packages the entire induction system under the GT500's special air-extraction hood. Fuel comes from a dual-bore electronic throttle body borrowed from Ford's 6.8-liter truck engine program. To manage heat produced by more than 450 horses, a larger radiator and increased-capacity cooling system also are installed.

Aluminum, high-performance Ford GT heads tout "Powered by SVT"

While supercharging is a key element in the Shelby Cobra GT500's ability to generate so much horsepower, another major contributing component is the design of the cast-aluminum, four-valve cylinder heads sourced from the Ford GT supercar.

Developed specifically for supercharged applications, these high-performance heads use high-flow ports and specially calibrated dual-overhead camshafts to deliver optimum engine "breathing" along with surprisingly good fuel efficiency and emissions. Also borrowed for use in the GT500 are the Ford GT's proven piston rings and connecting "
