hey everyone, my brother has a 2000 L and took it into ford to see what it would cost to get his intercooler replaced..they looked at it and told him 1700 .. is this expensive...is anyone willing to shoot me a price for one or have a good one for sale...also could he just run it without it?
thanks

go to the above link and get the part number.
go to a dealership and have them call around to other dealerships to see if they have it on their shelfs collecting dust.

The install is pretty straight forward!
If you have question, ask the service manager to copy the pages with the directions the mechanics use.

So what kind of problems will you encounter by not having the intercooler...if any...besides less horsepower? Are there any alternatives to an intercooler?

those are real good deals... to make them fit you will have to drill bolt holes. NO big deal at all.

no problems..... approx. 65HP lost said Ford Motor Co. Director of SVT Programs John Coletti..... and no alternatives to what a HP minded person would want between the SC and the intake manifold.

65 HP!!...damn jeremy....i wonder how fast that thing will be if you get it fixed right since its not functioning now....thats a lot to lose...i was thinking more along the lines of 20 or 30 hp loss but i guess im wrong(ive also heard the roots produce lots heat compared to others so this makes sense)....also what about installing a heat exchanger? is there a difference between a heat exchanger and an intercooler because i have found them for 400 smokes...brand new...one last thing...does your intercooler sit right under your charger? or is it in front by the radiator?

by the way i got my gtech back finally!

Would he need any more parts or accessories since it is JUST the intercooler itself?
