Fomocofan, hey man thank you for you help, and I know what you are saying.
You know what info I'm looking for and why I want it.
Here is why everyone, I waited to the last min to install my cage. I know I will need it but wanted to get my engine in first.
Now the season has started and I'm behind schd. So with the measurements that I'm asking for I can cut some pre determined holes drop my bars in, weld them and call it a day.
Thank you every one for your help. Everyone please chill so they don't close my post I need this info.
Please,
Suavy

A bolt in cage is only as strong as your floorpan, which in Michigan is usually rusted after a few years
Also a vehicle with a frame won't get the full benifit of stiffining from bolt in, as a unibody does.

If no one pipes in, I know there were some nice pics of cages in the past, could get you an eyball starting point, and with glass out and bars setting inplace I'd do a template out of posterboard, or similar material to get it exact, instead of depending on someone elses measure, its the only place I'd be worried about leaks, and can change to much depending on rearbar location/ hieght (were they connect to the frame) I'd think even a half inch diff. in hieght from frame to bend or, 1/2 a degree in the bend would screw up where it meets the glass, or where it goes thru the bed floor. I know i'd be nervous drilling holes in my truck depending on someone elses measureing/ interpretation.
of course thats JMO

The kit comes with larger sqr. plates that are supposed to cover up the hole that you make. The plate is forgiving up to a bout an inch or two. I was hoping to have some one say I got that kit and this bar is this and that bar is that.
Peace,
Suavy
Wow this is getting old.
The links posted in the second post are simply GOOD examples of GOOD information about cages...
Jamie - the fixation on angles has to stop.
We all get it you are right lets PLEASE PLEASE move on....
To respond to Lmenace's comment
He is exactly right - Suavy asked
Lmenace is correct in response to Suavys question. Suavy wanted to know where the supports go and lmenace said it depends on the angle. If the rear supports come off the bar at 70 degrees you might have to put the tailgate down to mount the supports.. ( obviously exagerating ) - So it does in fact matter what the angle is and it is a very good and absolutely correct and helpful answer to suavys question.
Your rewound tirade about 30 degree angles doeant really apply in any way to Suavys question.....
Jesus this is tiring ...

"I'm guessing it depends on the angle. "
"I was wondering if any of you would measure where the rear supports go in to the bed?
I also need the same info for the back window holes?

Doug you are way off base here!
Read suavy's response to me above!
He says he was NOT looking for angles, he was and is looking for a template off where on the body and window to make his holes.
He said he was trying to avoid figuring out the angles to save time!
I was simply trying to explain to everyone that responding with angles that that wasn't what he asked for, obviously you don't get it either!
He doesn't care what the angle is, he wants to know where to drill the holes...if he knows exactly where the holes are on a similar cage..he won't have to know or even care what the angles are!!
I am not obcessed with angles...everyone else on here that thinks the angle (not that anyone has told him what angle it is) will answer his question is nuts...
Yes you could fiqure out where to cut the holes if you knew the angle...but he is trying to skip that step and just cut the holes and place the bar in the holes and weld it and be done...get it?

Jamie,
The snow and long winter is getting to you..
You might want to get with Don and he can share some of his calming medication with you. It works great for him.. Remember guys it is Puff, Puff, Pass..
I have never known you to be so to the point.
I hope everything is ok in your life and you are just having a bad week. First I read you and Sal going at it, then guys jumping down on you and now you are giving it to Doug.
I do know you are right on what you are saying, but I think you could do it a little less aggressively.
Just my opinion, speak your mind how ever you desire.
See you at the track this season..

Hey bill, nice to hear from you...hope all is well!
I am having a good week.
I am not jumping on Doug at all, it's just the opposite.
Maybe, people don't understand the way I talk or type on here, but I don't think he understood this post before jumping on me!
Of course angles matter, but whatever angle it may be doewsn't answer Suavy's question...
When he asks where on the body to drill a hole...he is not looking for the angle of the bar!

Jamie,
I think the biggest problem is the way people take your posts.
You are very direct and so straight to the point, with zero detours. Almost robotic if you will.. lol
Through a joke in there once in a while, or a picture of a hot chick.
Make them smile and know you are a real person and you will be loved for your knowledge, instead of a target for how you express yourself. You are a good friend and a great guy, and will do anything for anyone. Some of the best qualities anyone could have, just a lot of people can't see that on a internet forum. Anyway, I just think you have too much great info to share to get yourself banned. You stated what you know to be right, Suavy knows what you were saying. So no need in beating a dead horse for the ones that can't see your point. Sometimes it is better to just let it go than to try to get someone to see it your way no matter how much your right.
Like I said, Suavy knows you're right, I know you're right. That should be good enough for anyone..
Talk to you soon my friend.
And for all the people that don't know Jamie, and don't know how to take him. You are missing out on a genuinely nice guy who actually does know what he is talking about and is trying to help out. Plus he drives a fleet of damn Fords, that should count for something..

Jamie' joke
That was step 1 in your 2 step program towards rehabilitation, now you just need to post a picture of a hot chick and you will be there..

Bill
Thanks for bringing sense to this.
Jamie - I do get it and i read the entire thread. What you are missing is that Suavy didnt ask about any angles and Lmenace just happened to answer correctly but made the mistake of using correct logic that happened to include one of your hot buttons. the word ANGLE... lmenace didnt have exact measurements to offer so he offered the correct info that was that the placement would depend on the angle.
You saw the word Angle and went off like a roman candle....
I agree with Bill and I realise that you dont see the problems that your approach causes. He is right you are a nice guy but your approach Try rereading the posts as a casual observer - a detatched 3rd party ..
