Johnny and Doug, I apologize. I realize this post is not the place for that. No harm meant.

JL, I wasn't bashing you at all, I hope you realize that, I was just sharing some of what I had learned and repeatedly stated both blocks were good and your's was the best for the money... I hope no offense was taken, some others got personal.

35thpony: I understand it wasn't you that started the CRAP! We all know who that was...JL

That is about the most informative post about an engine I've read on here in a LONG TIME!

I would like to ask that you run this IDENTICAL deal same time, next year. I'll buy one. (gotta get back to studying for the bar)

I know their cigarettes sure are high in Jersey. My wife and I were returning home from NJ after picking up the truck at JDM. We stopped at a gas station to fill up right outside of Freehold when we noticed this sign.

We both cracked up laughing thinking it was a joke but it was for real. A carton in our neck of the woods is only $25 tops. I don't know if NJ taxes are that ridiculous on everything else but if it is I don't see how people could afford to live there. I would definitely have to quit smoking if I lived there.

Keep in mind JDM also employs 11 people and that can be very expensive. As busy as they stay, he needs every one of them.

As a matter of fact so informative and honest was that post I ordered mine today! And topped it all off with new heads and the Stage 2 cams!
John thanks again for your help! You and your wife Sue were most considerate. You answered all my questions and gave me the info I needed to make a knowledgeable decision with no pressure whatsoever. What you had to say and offer certainly reassured me. This is a major expense for most of us and can create a good amount of anxiety both financially and emotionally. You helped to dismiss a good amount of that. And I can now say I’m really looking forward to having a new (much stronger) heart beating in my “L”.

thnder, I see that you are in California also, who is going to do the install on your JLP Block? Just curious since I just purchased an 04 and I live in Gardena CA. I am interested in a small block in the future, but need someone to do the install.

Well actually. I’m in So. Oregon at present and not So. California. I kinda travel between the two a few times a year. Considering your situation I’d get on Socalloc.com and make a post there for some local info. There are plenty of guys on that board help you find someone close that could competently do the work.
As for me luckily I have an SVT Ford dealer close by that is doing a cab off install. He’s using my lifters and rockers and setting up the cams all for $1500! ( More than reasonable for a dealer IMHO.) Plus there’s no Sales Tax in Oregon!!!!

Good Luck on your project.

I just drove an L with a JLP motor. Built sb, cnc heads, stage 2 cams, 8# lower. 2.75 upper ect.
All the work was done by JL and all I have to say is . The truck runs like a raped ape and has to be one of the smoothest motors I've ever felt. I sure who ever buys one his motor combos will be VERY happy.

I just got back from from my friends garage and we got started on removing the motor in my truck. It would go a lot faster if I could stop staring at the JLP shortblock that is sitting on the engine stand ready to go in.
