Last May I designed a twin exit dual 4" tip system.. It is a custom 3" stainless steel straight through, and uses Random Technology 3" metal cats and Corsa tips. The real difficulty was the crossover located below the torque converter. The system is routed outside the frame rails and does not involve re-locating the gas tank or frame cutting. A great benefit is the elimination of 20lbs of shielding which is no longer needed. This is a true 3" dual which runs cooler than a 2.5". The tips are double walled and run so cool that they don't even heat up the plastic from the skirt with only a 1/2 inch gap.

I see people create some incredible stuff on this site. I am very proud how this project turned out.

Do any of the vendor’s sale the Bassani BX? I know Chikenears sales the S.S. Bassani but not the BX.
Call up Mark@LFP and he will give you a he** of a deal on it. I got mine in on wed. afternoon and looking to get it put on tommorow.

That sounds wonderful. I'll do some research in the exhaust, and if all the cards are played right, I just may take you up on that
Check you email about the exhaust setup. I need to switch back to silverbullet for the clearance issues that I have with my t-bars. I am switching it back tommorow morning.

I installed the Bassani Stainless Steel Cat-back System on my 04 L this week-end and absolutely love the sound.
It has a nice crank-up and idle sound, a deep throat tone at take off. A little louder than the stock exhaust, although, has no roar or side-tone at highway speed like the stock exhaust.

The de-install took some doing, the factory U-bolts were installed so tight from factory that they had crimped an indention into the pipes and we finally had to cut them off.

The installation of the Bassani was smooth...took abou 15 minutes and everything fit like a glove and lines up perfectly.

A great system designed especially for the Lightnings!

I am very close to purchasing the stainless steal Bassani. When you state:

”has no roar or side-tone at highway speed like the stock exhaust.”

Does that mean its quiet where you can’t really even hear the motor running? I love the sound of the stock exhaust at freeway speed so I am hoping the Bassani sounds even better but hopefully not quiet because that would suck.

I am only purchasing the cat back, no headers or cats.

You can certainly hear the exhaust at highway speed. Has nice mellow throated sound. The point I was making is... the Bassani sound has no roar or side-tone that echos back into the truck cab and I can actually hear my radio and carry on a conversation at 70 MPH, which was hard to do with the factory exhaust!

Don't worry, you definately know it's there!

That sounds like it is exactly waht I'm looking for. Just a modest upgrade in sonud. I have a nice sound system and I don't want to distract from that. If you have pics, I'd love to see how it looks as it exists out the side.

Exhausted Lightning

Don't have a digital right now, although, mine looks exactly like the picture in the thread I used to plan my installation. The polished tips have "Bassani" on the ends as in the picture. The mufflers also have "Bassani" on both sides!

Do a search on keyword = exhaust
User name = BMWBig6

Scroll down to bottom and look for thread dated 02/06/2002 titled Bassani Installation Notes & Pics.
