timing with 20 psi (KB) and 100 octane

How much timing are you guys running on the race tune (100 octane) with about 20 psi of boost? I've heard of guys running 20-25 degrees with that much boost and race gas, but I get slight detonation going into high gear with only 15-16 degrees. Goes away with the alcohol injection on, but I'm tuning initially without it. Then again I'm running the Torco Unleaded Accelerator Concentrate in a mix that should have me at 100-102 octane.

I'm asking because I'm starting to think that this stuff may not be as good as they say. It allowed 20 degrees of timing with 16 psi of boost so it must do something.

Jody try it with race fuel instead. Also you are lugging the engine when it shifts to OD at low speeds...consider having your shift pts for OD under partial throttle moved up.

There are specific settings on your chip that deal with timing under "load". Maybe Sal will chime in.

I'm curiuos if you have JLP's upper intake? And is it worth that money for 1 lbs. of extra boost or stick with the stock with the heat spacers between?

I know the timing tables. I can change anything, I run the Pro Racer SCT tuning. My main concern was with the low amount of timing I could run with what is supposed to be 100 octane. Seems this stuff may not work as advertised.

Do you know when my truck shifts into OD? I'm not having any pinging issues at all except wot.

Yes I do. I think it's worth it on a high boost KB motor as the inlet on that manifold is 2-3 times larger, more air in and more boost. A milder combo may not benefit.
