If you buy a L your mileage will only go down, too much fun in the right foot

First, it's a Lightning not a lighting. Lightnings are estimated at 13 city/17 highway. At almost 5,000 lbs and over 400 hp there's really no way to get better gas mileage. If you want a good gas mileage vehicle then look into buying a Honda.

These trucks are under rated.

Welcome... as previously stated, gas mileage is not a Lightning's forte. If you can overlook that one thing, then you've got a truck that will do most things better and faster than most performance cars.... oh, yeah.... and it'll tow and haul too!

BTW... mine's red and it's for sale, but I haven't had a chance to even post in the classifieds or advertise yet. No matter what you end up getting, if it's a Lightning then you'll have a blast!

My 4# lower equipped L got 15 on the HIGHWAY driving it from Michigan to Florida when I bought it. I tend to get 10-11 in town. At 50+ bux a fill up, these trucks aren't cheap... but they ARE fun!

We have around 415 / 500 at the crank stock

~15% loss = 355 / 427 at wheels

Gregg says that we have 11% drivetrain loss, not 15%...

I did a search, you are right, he says 11.2% drivetrain loss,
I thought he meant 11% just for the tranny....

Seems very low though, considering a manual is rated around 7-8% isn't it?
most other automatics are around 20% aren't they?

I am not saying I don't believe him, because I realize he knows his sh%t.
