Max-

Thanks a bunch for the info in your gallery on the oil separator. Just printed it out and will head to W-mart today.

You're Welcome ! I have the one from REM on one truck and the $15 version on the other truck. They work exactly the same. I even exchanged the 90 degree fitting on the REM one to make it fit properly.

Blown347Hatch- You're Welcome !

Brahmus- I've had several opportunities to view my throttle bodies and the inlets are clean. I didn't proport that the separator is a 100% effective solution for all. I've read the plethora of opinions here ad nauseam. I was only showing what is needed to design the solution that is on the factory schematic under the hood, but was never installed. It does leave the factory engineering intact and removes oil from the system. I have also found that some trucks naturally provide more collected oil.

brahmus- I wanted to let you know that I wasn't trying to be disrespectful in any way. It's hard to convey your intent typing at times, so I wanted to further explain. Commonly, the effectiveness of oil separators or other oil control alternatives are questioned in the Lightning area. They go on for many pages, for months on end. I was ONLY trying to prevent this thread from becoming another debate, as they tend to provide no sound conclusions. I'm sorry for any confusion !

its interesting that you breeze right over the fact that the separator was tested and never installed by the engineers at Ford......the underhood factory schematic that was not to be and does not exist. It would not keep oil out of the air intake system, it would catch some oil and send the rest into the intake....so whats the point of slowing it down.
PCV engineering is Mandatory EPA induced non-performance engineering to date, PCV systems are getting better, but that is not helping lightning owners.

PCV system is part of the EPA guidelines to help prevent harmful emmisions, specifically hydrocarbons from being released into the atmosphere which would no longer being filtered through the catalytic system if the PCV system was removed and breathers installed.

I run breathers ..... but I havent removed my cats. Dont want to completely and selfishly place my trucks performance ahead of the environment.

if your determined to leave the crankcase gases and oil in your air intake system this is the best solution.

Clay, nice looking L, red is slowly becoming my favorite color (next to Sonic blue) anyway, where did you get your breather filter's from? any part numbers? did you have to get a tuner to modify the pc ( suggested on JDM website)? is there anything special one should know before doing this mod to a daily driver? By the way who are the Blondes??

Stating that it's on the under-hood schematic, yet it was never installed is just a simple fact, not breezing over. Since choosing to use it after testing was never mentioned, breezing over couldn't logically even apply. My intention was to provide a parts list to those who choose to use a separator.

Any members wanting an in-depth discussion of the engineering behind every oil control alternative can save time by searching RED 92s multiple posts on this topic.
