LOL... Josh, don't take it to heart. Round here this is normal. Sad part is that quite a number of the really knowledgable guys have gone else where because of the daily abuse on thier experience and intelligence.

Well, first off i too am from North Texas, Panhandle to be exact, and as for the Cobra, my best time is a 12.76 on drag radials vs. the 12.9 that the Z06 i was racing at the time. I am not in any way saying it isn't possible for a Lightning to beat a Cobra, but it is going to have to have some heavy mods and a good driver. As for LS1's in general i don't really care for them too much, i used to own an 02' Firehawk and i was never really all that impressed as far as power compared to the Lightning and Cobra. I personally think the Cobra is the best bang for the buck car out there right now.

WOW, and to think all this started just because I was happy about how well my lightning was running. Before I went into the race, i told the guy sitting with me that I was goin to get drove. I was just surprised at how quick the truck really is. And in no way did i ever mention that I was goin to own or beatup on 03 cobras, vettes or anything. For those who are getting there panties in a wad, well im sorry, and for those who are actually reading my post and saying good job and thats cool, well.....I thank you. For you post ****'s, cant you just let me enjoy the fact that I bought a good vehicle and that it seems to run pretty good.

i raced a stock cobra when i had just had intake exhaust chip and 4 lower and beat him by a car length or so now that i have more work done i tried again with another cobra with spray and aftermarket blower and needless to say it looked like i was parked.

i agree with smokin svt. i dont care too much for chevys or gm's unless their older like chevelles and 67-69 camaros. the new gto with the 400 hp ls2 is 35k my friend is getting one fully loaded and it wont beat a cobra i dont think. same with the wrx sti its 33k and i still think the cobra is the best bang for the buck as well.

Boostin and smokin... the issue isn't whether you care for the LS1 cars or not. I hope you beat every one that you run into. 
And no, the new 400hp GTO will not beat a Cobra. It will run 13.2-13.3 @ 107-108 or so, if I take an educated guess.

12.36 @ 116mph for mine bone stock with 1100 miles on it, on its virgin trip to the strip with a 2.05 60' time on F1s. Drag radials and its an 11.9-12.0 car bone stock otherwise. Please don't tell me Cobras run close to this in stock form with drag radials. They don't...at least not in the heat in Texas.

And to all the haters, chill out. Too many 'No he didn't, no he can't beat it' posts. Look at the original post the man never said he beat the Cobra, looks like he got a nice jump, that's all.
With all the torque the 'L' has, if it gets a jump on a stock Cobra, it's not going to catch up in a 'flash', oh the Cobra will catch it, it's going to take some good work and some time.
