Getting pulled over!!!
red light cameras have nothing to do with law enforcement what so ever... They are considered civil violations... When you get one your insurance doesn't go up and there is no court action or drivers license points issued.

There is a 10 mile stretch of State highway that goes through Nashua. They have a puke brown Unmarket Chevy Malibu that they cruise the highway pulling people over. They got me this past summer, when I went to court for it, the same officer testified in 3 other cases the day in Nashua district court. He lied in my case and all 4 of us were found guilty.
I am up there all the time, so now I have been keeping a eye out for that car. Since then I have seen that car pull over quite a few cars. To me that sounds like they are trying to meet a quota.
The money from any traffic infraction be it speeding or running red lights serves to fund local and state coffers. If the state did not need to make money, of which they do off tickets, then they could simply deduct points off your license until it got revoked.
Moral of the story is tickets ARE a money generator for the state and local cities regardless what anyone tells you.
Personally I think its fine people have to pay fines for the tickets they get and I don’t hold it against the police, state troopers etc because they do not set the policy. They simply enforce the laws on the book and meet the quotas that need to be met. Let’s not fool ourselves into believing no state or city is NOT in it for the money as well because they are, it’s called reality and budgets…

o1, not the case in NC... The state actually loses money on every ticket written... Do you have any idea what it costs to have 1-2 district attorney's see a case about 3 times with all the continuances, pay a judge to decide on the case, pay the officer to sit and write the ticket, then go to court. Plus all the data entry of the ticket and judgement rendered, plus the clerk of court to their job, then the upkeep on the court house, ohh yeah don't forget the bailiff... In NC a normal speeding ticket is between $100-$125 (fine and court costs) and that won't cover all the costs.
