What's the mounting depth of those subs illegalspeeds? I am needing small subs for one of those MTX Thunderform enclosures...

Very nice, That is a super clean job.

I am also running a Diamond 10 in the same size box but on the pass. side and it hits pretty hard I didn't think it would sound very good but got a great deal on the used system and I am very happy.

According to my handy spec sheet, the mounting depth of the sub is 5.63", but you also have to take into account that the surround sticks out about an inch from the mounting surface as well. After listening for a couple of days, I can say that I am very happy with the bass response...not earth shaking, but more than enough for me. I was going for a factory look; I wanted it to look like it came from Ford as an option, so to hear someone say it looks factory is a huge compliment. Thanks again guys for all your nice comments. But I will not be making more of these...I started this project in August!

Well, August to October is only 2.5-3 months. I can wait until mid-late January for mine. j/k, but I think by the responses you got, you could sell a ton of those if you did make them.

My truck wont get to me for another 2 weeks, but if you decide to build these boxes. I would be more than willing to wait 6 months for mine.

Great job man, Ford should be proud of you. You should patent it, an then charge ford.

Looks great. Yeah, I know how these things go, $100 in parts, use $2,000 worth of tools and $2,000 of labor (if you were charging) to arrive at final project. Would love to sell as product but would only make $1 per hour! Real proud of the results but you swear you'll never start a project like it again!!

I did some calculating last night. Parts breakdown (if anyone cares) is like this:

Wood, screws, glue, etc. $40
Fiberglass resin, mat, and mold fabric $80
Vinyl $50
Vinyl dye $30
Polyester primer, primer, and paint $100

That only comes to about $300 in materials, not counting the electronics! We would have charged about $2000 for that at the shop I used to work at. What a bargain! There were some specialized tools involved, and a lot of hours were put into fitting it in the truck properly and prepping it for paint. I am very proud of the fact that no holes were drilled in the truck, and it can be put back to stock in about an hour and you would never know there was an aftermarket stereo in it. It makes me very happy that all you guys like it - this is my first 2 page post in a year and a half of Lightning ownership! Thanks again for all your positive comments.
