Good Buy On Jack For The Track

I went to Walmart this AM and saw two good buys "IMO"
This jack kit; comes with crome 4-way, two crome chocks, and 2 ton small floor jack $29.68 Not bad. I Also picked up an air tank for $19. Both good for the track.

Sometimes, a good deal is in reality...not such a deal. The cheap air tank is not a big risk, the worst that can happen is you find out it leaks alot of air.

The cheap jack, on the other hand, is dangerous. I don't really know how much time you spend at the track, but if it is alot, a cheap jack will fail under the heavy abuse. Be careful with it.

I have a jack very similar to that. it is NOT tall enough to lift the tires off the ground using the frame. I throw 2x4 under it to lift the jack up so I can get the tires off the ground.

But I like the air tank!

Jacks not crome; the 4-way that comes with it is, the two chocks that come with it is also. I lift the truck right at the center of the rear-end; change both sides with one lift. Much faster than the screw jack!

I saw one of those low profile 7 pump race jacks at wally world the other day. 79 bucks if I remember right. Sears was selling the same one for over 100 and Sanp-On was selling it for 475 with 2 jackstands.

Do NOT purchase this jack! We busted the seal on it two summers ago. Good thing no one was under the vehicle at the time...

You really have to watch cheaper jacks with the weight of our trucks. some of them may have the lift capacity but any side or angle pressure the jack frame itself flex's and twist. also I have a harbor freight alum racing jack 2 ton, it's light and sturdy but, it lift's the back but not the front. so some of them you can't even trust thier ratings.

Rocks
Rocks is right...If you are interested in a light jack as far as how much it weighs then try this one.

http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...id=00950239000

It lifts 4000lbs. Better than the cheap 3000lb Harbor Freight one.

I use the Sears jack on my Superduty Diesel also.

The main thing is whatever you get make sure it's safe. Don't go under your truck unless you have good jack stands supporting it.

Just be safe!!
