Everything is bigger in Texas!

That must be true of the 60' marker at San Antonio Raceway compared to other tracks in the US.

I CANNOT get a sub 2 sixty foot!

I've tried Rob's 'flash the convertor' method - which, by the way, gave me my best run (overall) of 13.37 at 104.5 tonight, but my worst 60' EVER of 2.155 on the same run!

I've also tried the 'roll into it' method but only run slower than usual.

Are my F1's too fried to hook?

I've tried lightly cleaning them and I've tried boiling the hides - I just can't stop spinning in first (for 2 seconds) and into second.

HELP

My best 60' at that track is 2.03, and I usually average 2.1X on F1s. I have decent tread on my tires. I cannot floor my truck either--spins in 1st gear, spins when it shifts to 2nd gear, and scratches the tires shifting into 3rd.

Not sure what mods you have, but your 1/4 mile times are respectable.
You should gain 1-2 .010 w/ traction. Traction is a must!

Thanks Guys,

I forgot to list the mods (short list)

1) 5 lbs lower
2) JDM tuner (mail order) flip chip
3) 12" open element filter
4) Flowmasters (to help negate the above mods )

I ran 13.85 at 100 stock, so I am happy with the gains. It's just that 12's are SOOOOO close, if I can lose some 60' time.

Two other L's were running tonigh with F1a and 4 LB lower - in the 13.6 range.

I'd try HRP here in a month or two if I were you. I went to SA Raceway a few times last year, and I must say that they don't prep that track for ****! I would break the tires loose going into second gear with my Hoosiers! I don't have a FTVB or major hp mods either. I ran 1-2-3 tenths quicker at HRP.

I may have to try HRP or Ennis.

Several years ago I couldn't get my Mustang into the 13's - finally did it in Ennis.

I would think that SAR would be worlds above the track prep at the recently shutdown "Smokin' Alamo Ragway" with their beany-chessy nachos...

Ahh - good times, good times.

Sauvy,

I read a post from Rob a couple weeks back where he described his launch to to get like a 1.6 60' (feet must be shorter in NY).

He said that he just hammers it off the line and stands on it. He said that it 'flashes' the converter and that is what accounts for his 60's. I'll see if I can dig up the post.

And I did...his comment are about 3/4 down page 1

Lets see what numbers you can achieve w/ traction.
Like I said, you should be 1-2 .010 quicker.
You should be 1-2 .010 quicker on top of that w/ a race program.
Get a good dyno tune!

They must only prep the track for big events or important runs. Like I noticed that all of the record-holding vipers set their times at SAR. I'm not sure why, considering they come out of Houston, but they did. They definitely do not prep the track well for us though.

There was a red viper there tonight out of Tennessee. Plate said '1 Bite'. He said he old combo was 11 flat, but he just had a new motor built. They were running it w/o nitrous, but were having issues. The guy couldn't burn out for schit. Had a line lock, but didn't use it and wound up looking like John Force Jr., but with no spin and no smoke. He guy seemed stoned...But he did run an 11.1 at 131 on the last pass of the night.

Haha, the last time I was there, I watched a red GTS run a damn 14.2. The guy was acting like a hardass before the run, and parked the car immediately after the run and sat in the stands for the rest of the night. Haha what a douche.

Might be the same guy - it was a GTS, and he was a douche...

He had 'staging problems' on one run - rolled through the lights, then redlighted, then ran a 14.7 at 127 MPH due to the screwed up timing.

We need a smilely smacking his head..
