Haha it might be the same guy. The guy I saw couldn't do a burn out either. And from the sound of his run, he spun at least half way down the track... never let up not once to get traction.

I have nothing but the greatest respect for Rob. He has given me so much advice in my time here, I am really grateful he is on these boards.

That said, I tried "flashing the converter" by stomping on it and just going... And I must have stood on the pedal wrong; I ran a 15.3. Zero traction until a little into 2nd gear.

Stupid SRT-4 in the other lane ran a 14.9. Probably laughed the whole way...

Mine hooked better than THAT! But not by much...

I'm leaning toward my F1s being fully played out. They are looking REAL skinny lately. Screw Lincolns head - I can about see the rim of the penny!!

I've run the L 4 times - actually multiple times on 4 nights. Two nights were stock, two nights with the current mods. Even stock, I couldn't drop under about 2.08. Third time out I finally got down to a 2.03 on my best pass of the day - 13.36 @102.23. After that run, the F1s felt gummy and soft. Brother, those days are gone...They feel lke hockey pucks now!

Last night was kinda all over the board - 2.107 for a 13.45@103.52, 2.078 for 13.43@103.40, 2.046 for a 13.39@103.14, and finally 2.155 for a 13.37@104.48. Those last two were hot lapped. I wish I could have seen the 60' of run 3 with the rest of run 4!

Oh well, At the I got some MPH finally.

Herb

yeah, I'm gonna try to come out to SAR on a Saturday afternoon and just do time trials ($20) and see if they prep it for their Sat Event or not.

stock and best to date (darkened on right)

They have a nice track, and it's actually already paid for itself (not bad for only a couple years old). They really need to focus on prep though. I see it on other area boards as well.

Herb I had a 1.9 out there and went 12.89 on F1's...... the track is not consistant. With 01svtL, I had a 2.0 13.06 with his slicks on a night with a poor track prep. and a 2 plus 13.6 with F1's....

Just have to get "lucky" with SAR prep I'll be heading out there in a couple of weeks to see what Apten dose for me

TXSVTLIGHTNING - those are awsome times for stock!

RED 92 - I hear you about the consistancy thing. At least with Alamo, they were consistant - they always sucked. I'm not gonna miss the crappy surface or the 1/8 mile dip. Or the gravel pits. Or the cheap basturd turning off the lights 5 minutes after final runs. You gotta be in a pit crew to get your street tires back on in the light! Good luck with the apten - keep us posted.

Overall SAR rocks It reminds me alot of Ennis, only smaller.

I'm thinking of getting out there on a Saturday as well. They SHOULD have the track preped better for competition

Rob may flash his converter but I'm almost positive he runs a full slick when doing so. I don't care if you flash the converter or stall it -- if you floor it when the tree says go on F1's you are going to "prep" the track.

With that said... I never really had a problem with track prep at SAR. With slicks and slapper bars I never had a problem getting 1.6x 60' times. Just check out this video to see how hard my head gets thrown back when I launch: http://www.svt-enthusiast.com/albums...er_cam_web.mov

Here is another vid that shows a launch so hard that the fuel pumps went dry:

Don't run with less than a 1/4 tank of gas!

Cool video Steele

That what I want MY L to do!

What was the ET for the pass in that video?

Are you back up to full force? I remember you threw a rod, but I didn't hear about the final outcome and the fix.

I hear you about me preping the track - I've got plenty of 'traction compound' (my own rubber) on my rear fenders today!

Thanks,
Herb

I ran a 12.3 in that vid. I'm not back yet. The truck has been down for 5 months now. I'm getting closer but it will be a while...

I'm pretty sure it was less than an 1/8th of a tank. I ran out of money for motorsport 103 that night.

Herb,

If you're going to travel to a track that's not that close to you, and your choices are Ennis or HRP... go to HRP. Consistently .15-.20+ faster than Ennis. Plus it runs from south to north, so you get the prevailing wind behind you.

Good luck!

Good info - Thanks!

I hope to be well into the 12's by then, but me and some buddies are already making plans for the FFW event in Houston for next year. We all went to Ennis a couple weeks ago and had a blast!

We went to HRP about 3 years ago for FFW and enjoyed it too, but I was between racecars at that time.

Hopefully, I can get some traction locally, but if not, I'll keep HRP in mind. The drive to either is about the same for me.

Herb
