Well I am still doing my research but it is hard at work because my company has every freakin site blocked.
I do not plan on modding the engine for a while. I think rims and a system for this one and start to save more money for a house.

I'd take an S4 over a C6 if you plan to drive in snow.

My Dad has an S4, and let me tell you, they are Service ******.

With your experience in your L, just wanted to give you the heads up. Get an Audi mechanic pulled aside and see if they will give you the lowdown. Just dont want you to go thru service misery by getting what you think will be much "easier" on you and your wallet. Granted, you will have a warranty.............

Best of luck brother. I couldn't part with mine, but everyone is different. Good luck with your decision. If you get it, I would like to see a time slip.

well, I'd hate to see you sell your truck, but I know how you feel.

I wish you the best of luck whatever you decide.

it's not the end of the world, if you decide it was a mistake, you can always buy another L in the spring!

good luck.

later,
chris

I'm surprised you did not look at an STI then, that has better performance and a great record for durability.

I love the STI but I need a more low key car. Does not look good when I pull up to a clients 3 million dollar house with a few ferrari's in the driveway looking to close a deal with a batmobile STI.

I am actually looking into possibly keeping the L, selling the civic and getting an STI but I think the payments are too high. All depends on if my insurance is going to spike with the new car...still waiting on that quote.

If all of us only had money we wouldn't have these worries.

I know what you mean about the STI, but you could put a standard WRX trunk lid on and remove the tall spoiler, and then add a front mount intercooler to get rid of the hood scoop.

STOP IT RACE TESTED
you are making me start to think about it. I was all set on the S4. Guess I need to test drive that WRX.

What do you have to lose on trying an STI? It's about 15k cheaper and a better performing car.

I am just sharing my personal quest for buying nice cars also. I can afford the cars, but I am not going to spend $600 on a broken seatbelt like a friend had to for his Porsche. I just beleive there is a happy medium somehwere with a nice car and affordability. I've been there with the high car payments and high insurance and it was stupid. I could have traveled the world in first class a few times instead.

Thanks, I just did a comparison on the Subaru website between the 2 and there is not much difference. Audi is 40 HP more and 18K more in price. I am definitely going to take it for a test drive but I can only imagine the performance will be close and then I will have to decide on if 18K for cosmetic reasons is worth it.
I will report back after the test drive.

This is my outlook on vehicles as I don't care about race only applications to much. The STI for example will beat most cars out there stock and has great reliabilty, so you don't need to mod the hell out of it to be king of the road. Example: An SRT-4 customer had an exhaust and a 100 shot of our progressive nitrous kit only and can run 12.0 to low 12's over and over again. An STI will be in the 11's with a safe dose of nitrous and the drivetrain will remain reliable with a progressive. So now you have a very fast car stock and really fast one with a simple power adder for a bit more fun. What more can you ask for? The Subaru is a very solid car so you won't fel that it is cheap in any way.

The STI doesn't have a stereo either, so you can start fresh with the aftermarket one that you want.
